Nito no Joreishi is shaping up to be something special. From the absolutely incredible transitions, the very experimental paneling, and the shady, unrefined-looking art, this is worth checking out.
So, my biggest pet peeve on this website is the absolute dimwits who leave reviews on ongoing manga, calling it a masterpiece, giving it a 10/10, etc., even though there are barely 10 chapters out. It pisses me off so much. How can you call something great and score it when, the next week, it could be canceled and ruined?
That’s me saying that I’ve been wanting to leave a review on this since I started it with
...
the release of chapter 2. I decided to hold off a bit and see how the story develops and wait for the main plot to kick in. Now, 10 chapters in, it’s starting to look like the gears are finally kicking in.
I mentioned the art already, so I won’t focus too much on it. I’ll just simply say that it’s fantastic. It’s a mix of a lot of different styles, most notably very early Tatsuki Fujimoto, Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of the Immortal, and even a hint of Hell’s Paradise… if you liked any of that, you will most definitely enjoy the art here. Now, this is a seinen, which makes me not enjoy the silliness of the art SOMETIMES.
There are quite a few pages and panels where the art becomes a bit silly-looking—cute rabbit ears, bubbly eyes, etc. That type of shit. I do wish it would slow down on that. I think the story, which I’ll get to, is shaping up to be somewhat serious, and I wish the art would follow through in the upcoming chapters.
Okay, so the story. We haven’t seen much of it yet, but it’s your typical exorcist story, where you have a group of exorcists. The MC isn’t part of them but will later be recruited, and he’s fighting evil in order to hunt a specific monster. Idk, evil spirit… whatever. And that’s because that evil spirit killed his mentor/partner/friend… you’ve seen it a million times; it’s very predictable. Now, like I mentioned earlier, this is still only 10 chapters in, and I do think it shows a bit of promise, as it does switch things up quite a bit.
This is why I hate reviews of ongoing manga—what do you even say? You don’t know anything about it yet. I’ll just say that it’s definitely worth checking out. Again, the art is IMMACULATE—like honestly, I don’t give a shit how bad or predictable the story could get. If it continues to look like that, I’ll continue reading it
Score- fuck off it’s unfinished and it shouldn’t be scored/10
Ok I’m putting a 6 because I have to, to publish the review. So dumb.
