TL;DR: It’s an excellent read (based on what’s available so far) and definitely worth your time.
This is a refreshing take on the classic fantasy hero-versus-demon king trope!
Similar to Sousou no Frieren, the story is set after the hero's party defeats the Demon King. However, the twist here is that the hero doesn’t die fighting the Demon King but rather on the journey back to the kingdom. And instead of following a party member, the story focuses on someone compiling a biography about the hero’s life—and his mysterious death.
The premise alone is intriguing enough to draw readers in, but what truly stands out is how well
...
the manga executes its concept. The world-building is very well crafted, and the interviews with various characters provide a immersive feel for the kingdom. The artwork is also superb, further enhancing the storytelling.
What’s particularly fascinating is how the hero’s true character is revealed gradually. Through the perspectives of ordinary people, his teachers, peers, nobles, and others, we get a portrait of the hero, with each account adding nuances to his legacy.
The manga also excels at embracing common tropes found in this genre (e.g., a commoner hero attending an all-noble academy) but uses them in clever and unexpected ways. Without spoiling anything, it’s a satisfying read.
