Unironically one of the most funny and entertaining manga I have read in the recent times.

It presents us with a fantastical city of North Hill where people have caught the cooper disease known to turn people into blood hungry beasts. Now quarantined, our protagonist, who once was the native of the very town, is once again on the way to the town in order to maintain the peace and..... Actually drop all that, it is just Last of Us + Boss Baby. Good and compelling story and overly hilarious moments which actually hit even at serious moments it knows how to hold down a reader ... to make the reader go "just one more chapter".

Characters are goofy and hilarious which weirdly fit in this funny otherwise dark story. The synergy of main characters matches perfectly resulting in an engaging duo. Art is also an eye candy to watch as it both conveys the gritty nature of the story and the goofy moments present in between.

One of the things I enjoy about manga is the ability of a writer to imagine a completely unique and insane scenario that I couldn't have come up with on my own. The problem is, after reading a lot of them, patterns start to emerge, and that feeling of genuinely encountering a premise so insane you have to stop and appreciate the absurdity becomes harder to come across.
I'm glad to announce that each new page of Astro Baby genuinely had me going "What the hell am I reading?" in the best way.
The characters are a combination of human enough for you to empathize with and ... 'anime' enough for you to enjoy watching, the art is beautiful and the story sets up new hooks and questions you want answered as it goes on. There are only 9 chapters out as at the time of this review but I'm writing it to encourage people to give the manga a try. It may not end up being your cup of tea but it's a different enough flavor that it's worth at least trying.
