If like me, you read the blurb about this book, and assumed you were going to get a tense story of survival about two badasses in a dangerous land, you would also be wrong. This is a story that boils down to essentially Monster Hunter (the author admits to being an action game fan in the afterword), with an adventuring guild thrown in, complete with ranks, rules, and descriptions thereof. Without giving too much away, the main duo arrive at these dangerous unknown lands full of mystery and wonder, aaaaand...society's actually fairly normal, and everything pretty much immediately works out for them. So far, so ... light novel, but if that's your thing, you'll find a fun little romp here.

There's nothing here that'll blow you away, but it's not an isekai, there's no self-insert, and only a smidgen of fanservice (up to you if pro or con). The translation is coherent and won't put you to sleep, and the illustrations have a nice style to them. The main duo are an interesting enough pair, the plot is pretty breezy and laid back, making for an easy, enjoyable read.
