The Kodansha Manga Award (講談社漫画賞, Kōdansha Manga Shō) is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha.

These are some manga that feature doctors performing surgery. Only some of them have a medical license. Every manga listed should have some sort of english translation, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's fully translated.

A chronological selection of the most important works of Osamu Tezuka, a timeless influential figure on the medium and one of the greatest artists of all time.

These entries are listed keeping in mind its historical relevance, their context in Tezuka's life, and their overall influence on the mangascape. I believe the following titles would help you understand more about his style, life, and contribution to Japanese media. It is not comprehensive and should be treated as a jumping point for such a colorful career.

Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says.

No. 98 is Gaki Deka, but I couldn't find it. It has sold 30 million (November 16th, 2017), and was made by Tatsuhiko Yamagami and the publisher is Akita Shoten.

No. 99 says Jingi, but it seems to be Tachihara Ayumi's other work Maji! due to the dates and amount of volumes.

Tezuka Osamu is considered one of the greatest mangaka ever. He is know as the, "Father of Japanese manga and anime". This is a manga list honoring the best/most iconic works by Tezuka Osamu. These mangas are groundbreaking and helped shape the future of Japanese media forever. His works also influenced the future generation of mangakas including Fujiko (Doraemon), Monkey punch (Lupin), Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), Akira Toriyama (Dragon ball), and many more. Excludes fictional medicine (like using magic to heal someone) and animal health care. Both have their own stacks.

Seinen manga is targeted to males, has action, philosophy, psychological elements, maybe some realistic romance.
That’s the common theme for this list. I will not include the popular shonen Naruto here, but will include Hunter x Hunter. That’s because HxH is dark and has deep philosophical themes. So that’s it!

In 2006, the Japan Media Arts Festival held a special 10th anniversary awards festival for manga, anime, art and entertainment. For manga and anime, the rankings were split into a popularity poll (general public vote), and a 'professionals' ranking (critics, mangaka, etc.). The only 3 series in the 'professionals' ranking for both manga and anime were 'Astro Boy', 'Doraemon', and 'AKIRA'.

Japan's Shōwa era lasted from 1926 to 1989. In 2009, Asahi Shimbun announced a polled list of 50 of the greatest 'masterpieces(名作)' of the Shōwa era. The only one not listed on MAL yet is 'Iga no Kagemaru' by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, which was ranked 27th.
