Story isnt the same but both are a very good yaoi story and will makes you think its so nice to have someone you love beside you in your life. 

Both yaoi w/plot enough to cover several volumes (exceeding 10); They also have a similar pace and whatnot to them in the later volumes, and I (having read kizuna first) could not help but find many similarities. 

Both series involve gay gangsters. Kizuna is far more open about it with less focus on yakuza, while Banana Fish has more mafia drama and isn't explicit, but fans of one should definitely check the other out.
