There are a lot of books like "my quiet life in another world doing X" where X may be smithing, cooking, running an apothecary or a store etc etc. For me most of them feel like the author is forcing their hobbies upon the reader and I just skip several pages at a time to see where the plot is going and then drop the series altogether.

Kunon the Sorcerer is similar to these types of books (except it is not an isekai) but for some reason I liked it a lot. This light novel is focused on magic and on the process of learning it. ... Some of the questions about magic don't have answers so you are treated like a colleague and encouraged to think about it too. The pacing is slow and as of volume 3 there's no sign that this will change. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable read for me and the writing is funny and I'd say above average. So if you like slow life light novels give it a try.

The characters are one-dimensional and lack any depth or complexity. Kunon himself is a typical "Mary Sue" character, excelling at everything he does without any struggle or challenge. The supporting characters are forgettable and do not add anything meaningful to the story. The pacing of the novel is also an issue. The story moves ... too slowly and lacks any sense of urgency or tension. The plot is predictable, and there are no unexpected twists or turns that keep the reader engaged.

The writing style is also lackluster, with flat dialogue and unremarkable descriptions. The world-building is minimal and fails to create a vivid and immersive fantasy world.

While the premise of a blind boy using magic to create new eyes is intriguing, the execution of the story is lackluster and leaves much to be desired. The characters are one-dimensional, the pacing is slow, and the writing style is uninspiring. Overall, this light novel fails to leave a lasting impression and is not worth the read.
