There are a lot of books like "my quiet life in another world doing X" where X may be smithing, cooking, running an apothecary or a store etc etc. For me most of them feel like the author is forcing their hobbies upon the reader and I just skip several pages at a time to see where the plot is going and then drop the series altogether.

Kunon the Sorcerer is similar to these types of books (except it is not an isekai) but for some reason I liked it a lot. This light novel is focused on magic and on the process of learning it. ...
