5 sweet and bittersweet stories full of sensitivity that will captivate you, with different protagonists, touching on different themes of life, but always surrounded by the precious feeling of love, nostalgia, longing and melancholy.
Battan, the author, will take us on a little journey through these short stories, written as she knows how, full of a very special love and affection, mixing it with the development that this will produce in her characters. In each story, she leaves us a moral, and shows us how after meeting different people, our perspective changes, as well as the way to show our affection, and also to receive it.
Because
...
when we meet someone almost everything changes, and surely everything will be turned upside down.
This unique volume captivated me, it has something special, and that is that the stories that it narrates plus the author's beautiful drawing provoke endless feelings in you.
ANTEROS WASN´T PRESENT
This is the title I like the most. Anteros, the God of reciprocated love and avenger of unrequited love, brother of Eros.
The loves of the past will always be present, and especially those in which we could not express our love. We will find the essence of that person in many places, in music, in books, in the sky, in a smell, or even, as happens in this story, in another person, because it resembles that person we once knew You fell in love.
“As she said those words…her face reflected a deep loneliness for an instant”
FLAKES ON THE GREEN MEADOW
There are people who want absolutely everything, materialistic people, people full of greed, who even want the attention of all the people around them, want to feel important and loved, and who don´t value anything. The protagonist has everything, except one thing, the attention of the new girl in her class...
"What I appreciate the most is what is unattainable for me."
IN MOURNING AT THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER
I really liked this, a chapter where it makes us think about what we want to know and what we are so afraid of, What happens after death? do we reincarnate? Where does what we have inside go? To heaven? to the hell? To the stars? To the other world? to home? to space? Or do we just cease to exist and that's it? When someone leaves, we usually keep their things, because... they will never have anything else again... Each person is affected by the death of someone in a different way, and the way in which we face said event is also different.
“Is it to make us cry…? …Or maybe rejoice because he is finally free?".
UNTIL FOREVER, HUMANITYUNTIL FOREVER, HUMANITY
In the world where this story takes place, vampires exist, but they aren´t as we have always been told, although they continue to be marginalized. Monica is a vampire, and the clear example that vampires really have warm feelings, and that they are just the villains of a badly told story. A story full of sincere and pure love, between two totally opposite girls, who break all the schemes. The extra story teaches us the power of feeling towards a person even as time goes by... a story where a bite brought them together.
"I hope that, even though I am a vampire, someone loves me..."
THE LITTLE MERMAID
This story talks about unrequited love, which leaves us with a feeling of bitterness and pain. Also about empathy, the search to understand feelings, and the fate of running into certain people who will change your perspective.
In the original story of the little mermaid, she commits suicid3 because of all the unrequited love she felt for the prince.
Here we have Chie, a girl who went on a retirement trip, where she will meet Erika, a very restless woman, with whom she will have dinner and drink to drown her sorrows. Because sometimes we just need someone to understand us...
"On nights like this... loneliness weighs more".
These stories will make you feel a thousand things, they can make you cry, they will make you have an existential crisis, but, above all, they will caress your heart.
I hope everyone loves us the way the characters in Battan's works love each other.
