This is a comedy manga of the kind that relies on a single simple premise for all of its gags, but it is not just a collection of different bits from the life of the protagonist as it has a continuity and the characters evolve, even if slightly, from chapter to chapter. To use an example, the structure is more akin to that of Protect me, Shugomaru that to that of Gokushufudou.
The main cast is composed of two girls attending the same high school, who are the only recurring characters. The titular Osamu is a ghostbuster, meaning her job is to exorcise ghosts, but
...
she's also a huge otaku and fangirl, meaning she is only able to exorcise nerd ghosts. On the other hand there's Kaika, a "gal": a beautiful, easy-going girl who radiates positivity and befriends Osamu -much to the ghostbuster's surprise- despite knowing literally nothing about her passions.
The gags rely mostly on Osamu's nerdy nature (and Reika's reactions to it) and thus I think are especially funny for nerds and even more so for people who know the fanfiction/doujinshi scene. This repetitiveness coupled with the relative length of the chapters (always over 20 pages) could make this manga boring pretty quickly, but it seems the author is aware as they are already doing some character development and introducing new interesting characters.
As for the art style, I think this is the most interesting part of the series. The author can draw pretty well, and alternates effectively a mainstream, clean style, perfect for epic or emotional parts, with a more caricatural, deformed one for the gags. They can also be creative when it comes to the balloons and other details, although this is not common.
All in all, to me this is a decently fun read with good drawings that has always managed to make me laugh, despite me not being the primary target audience as I have no experience of fandom nor fanfiction.
Review written at chapter 6, that is a little more than 1 volume.
Rating outlook: moderately positive.
