I'll start by saying what 100 manhwa is not. 100 is not a rich in details story. 100 is not a story with interesting or well written characters. 100 is not something you'll still remember 1 year after you've done reading it.

Is 100 a bad manhwa then? Well, it depends. If you're looking to read something deeep, you should stop reading this review and go find something else to read. However, if you're in the mood for short, cheap, action and blood packed story with few not so interesting yet original twists then you should give it a try. Just make sure to play some ... Carpenter Brut album at full volume in the background before you start reading to put yourself into the right mood.

100 has a surprising amount of detail and effort. I did not expect the PUBG Manhwa adaptation to have this much work put into.
It has 50 chapters and therefore lives up to his name, half way. I find it to be a lot of content considering this series is based on a game with no story mode, let alone references to lore/past events in the in game world.

Sadly, the visual quality leaves plenty to be desired. The artwork looks average at best.
At some points there are even grave anatomical errors.
For a while, the artist, Yunyeol Choi, really struggled to draw faces from the side. He ... did improve after a while, but the bad impression remained.
It is cool that the Manhwa features the exact models and textures from the actual game, but these resources haven't been implemented very well. They don't blend in with the hand drawn art and feel “slapped in”. Sometimes the guns are way too large, and I also remember seeing a stun grenade flying through the air with its pin still attached.

The main appeal of 100 however lies in its action scenes and plot twists. This is where the series is able to be entertaining. It kept me curious enough in order to keep reading until the end. The conclusion however had a limited amount of impact on me, and one of the biggest reasons for that is pretty disappointing: lack of character depth. You will have a tough time growing attached to any of the characters because they mainly serve as plot devices. Especially the bad guys are as shallow as it gets. This series features murderers that murder and say “man, I love murder”.

You can read it if you got time on your hands. It's an interesting niche because you probably won't find a single person who plays the game and wonders about the lore. So if you can't get any wins then at least you have an alternate way to feel special by reading these hidden scriptures, no soul knows about in order to claim you “finished PUBG”.

Before you even read further I would reccomend that if you have not playing PUBG that you do not read this manhwa, a large portion of my enjoyment came from going "YO THATS THE ONE IN THE GAME".

To its credit this manhwa emulates the PUBG extremely well with locations, guns and vehicles that are literally one to one replicas including scopes and other details, however, the character writing does not match up to this precision. In my opinion, the manhwa's writing is the main thing holding it back, while it held my attention at the time, after some thought, character motivations do not line ... up with their backstory and there some tropes that really made me sigh. This issue was slightly avoided as large amounts of the characters' backstories are back loaded towards the end of the story, nonetheless, this made for an unsatisfying ending.

Apart form this the manhwa was fine, the art was good but not brilliant and to give the writing some credit, I think that the world building was extremely well utilised. The author implements the game mechanics and uses the setting to creatively to influence story beats in interesting ways, however, this once again relies on your understanding of PUBG. This manhwa also suffers from reusing quite a few tropes specifically around the females characters in the story and has a very monster of the week format which does not allow for deeper exploration of these characters.

In summary, this manhwa is a perfect 'junk food' manhwa, slam a couple of ciders, punch a few cones or if you're just feeling the manhwa then i would recommend pounding this manhwa out in one afternoon and I reckon you'll have great time (if you've played PUBG).

Mild Spoiler Warning:
I will mainly speak broadly about tropes and such to avoid actually spoiling.

A disappointing aspect of this manhwa is the trope of baiting the audience to think someone died or something bad happened before cutting away, I believe part of this is simply due to cliffhangers being a necessity when reading manhwa, however, this still takes away from the reading experience. In the manhwa's defense rarely does it return to some bullshit almost always it returned to an escape that was plausible.

I will not mention details here, however, the ending was extremely convoluted with multiple characters backstories getting shat out and like 5 twists in a row.
