SUMMARY: GTO: Shonan 14 Days is a side story that takes place in the timeline of the original story of Great Teacher Onizuka. Onizuka leaves school over a misunderstanding and lays low in his hometown of Shonan. There he runs into a colleague's acquaintance and helps out at a home for wayward kids.

Fujisawa Tohru wrote Shonan 14 Days 7 years after the completion of Great Teacher Onizuka and fans of the original are sure to enjoy this manga. It has a similar feel to the original story with new characters and story lines.

Review : GTO shonan 14 days
for those of you who are not familiar with GTO entirely ,in which case im sorry for you , but im gonna give you a little introduction on GTO .
In an area called shonan there is a delinquent with his biker gang . a total bad-ass of the onibaku gang Ekichi Onizuka . now he has been through a lot in his school life , being a delinquent and all . In GTO the original we see him determined to be a teacher . but not Just any teacher , the GREATEST TEACHER IN JAPAN !!
He has other ... incentives for being a high school teacher as well since he is the only person ever(maybe) who can keep his conscience clean and still dream of marrying 16 year old girls .
In the original series we see him become a teacher and that is an amazing show too but for another day.
So in Shonan 14 days he leaves his school for a bit for some reason and has to hide in SHONAN (because he said that he had earlier almost buried her student by mistake on national television) . So he is in Shonan and he comes across this teenage girl shoplifting . Right behind her is her guardian paying for what she stole . on asking he comes to know that she along with another lady teacher is a guardian to these problem children left at a care center . This Teenager also turned out to know the reputation of the greatest teacher in Japan and asks her to help him . The prospective of living with Two hot female teachers in a villa for 14 days isnt half bad and so he agrees. the story essentially revolves around this childcare center and how he solves every ones problems the ONIZUKA WAY .The art is pretty good . There are only few people alive who can make such horrible faces in their manga which becomes sooo hilarious when you get used to it . The story is good but Nothing Exceptional the mini arcs in the manga are very well done .characters are awesome and i have yet to meet someone who knows GTO and dosnt LOVE Onizuka . The mangas selling point is its enjoyment value and how you could have a smile for days thinking of all the ridiculous shit that happened .

Shonan is overally an okay manga, it's not bad but it's not great either. While it has some great gags and outcome of some situations, a dozen number of situations and villains were poorly made and executed too fast that it seemed like a mix of One Punch Man and Dr. Phil - Onizuka beats some people and screams what their flaws are.
The manga is trying to carry the original GTO formula (bad guys want to do bad stuff to good people, Onizuka deals with them in a silly way and teaches them what they did was wrong), but the further it goes, the more ... it gets flat and watered down which greatly reduces enjoyment that sometimes we just see "haha we are naughty kids, adults are bad, so we do whatever we want." Also, the atmosphere feels much heavier, even for a care center and the problematic children.
