The two series portray depressing adult melodramatic themes, characters and relations between them. The characters in both works have some issues. The female leads in both works have similar characterizations

both are psychological manga’s with romantic elements. technically they both contain murder and a down bad guy. if you liked one you’d probably like the other :)

Both have a very similar style in settings. However, it would be great if you read Inu to Kuzu 1st as it's a less 'wholesome' story. However, reading Joshikousei to Seishokusha-san after this would be great. The female protagonists in these series remind me of eachother in certain aspects. However, the male protagonists are completely different, yet both have a problem that each other live with. Both male protagonists do not know of much - when it comes to what everyone is suggesting.

Both are soap opera/telenovela dumpster fires where everything is so melodramatic and depressing, yet you can’t help but read it. The characters aren’t very mentally healthy and the love story is bleak. Makes for an emotionally taxing read, unless you find humor in its absurdity.
