Sketchbook revolves around students in an art club, and Geijutsuka Art Design Class revolves around students in an art school. They are both slice-of-life, although GA is more comical. 

Both manga revolve around a group of girls who attend an art school, and they are both slice-of-life comedies. 

These two manga are both random, lighthearted, cute, high school girl slice-of-life comedies. The mood of these manga are very similar and sometimes even the characters. Also, Azumanga Daioh has a broad, random range of subject matter while GA is more art-based, so the change of subject matter can be refreshing.
