Both manga are about a caretaking female type making dinner for an unrelated male. Yakumo-san has more of a incipient ecchi set-up vibe, whereas Aikagiokun is more of an innocent romance.

Light romance built on eating home cooked meals together.

Gentle romances based around needing to eat.

both series are about sharing food and growing closer with a childhood friend. the FL usually cooks for the ML and they have regular meals together (breakfast and dinner, respectively), are slow burn romances, and the ML falls first! the narratives focus on the bonds made through cooking and there are pseudo-recipes/food facts throughout.

Both have a gentle romance with a older woman and younger man who were childhood friends eating together.

There is a similar vibe of an older person taking care of an unrelated younger person with food in both these stories. Aikagi-kun feels like it's more headed toward a gentle romance, while Zashiki Musume feels like a coming of age story, but both are still publishing so I could be wrong.

Both manga have a theme of shared home cooked meals. Shinmai gives actual recipes, while Aikagi-kun has a gentle background romance feel.
