I was listening to Eve their song called "raison d'etre" its an amazing song but what took me by a surprise was the animation, the video was amazingly animated by ENISHIYA Inc. I went to check the comments and people were saying things like "We’re secretly watching an anime op that hasn’t came out yet". So i searched it up a bit and found out that this is a manga series drawn by Newo and story by Eve. So here's the review.

At first i didn't really think much about it i was bored and had time to read it. The ... story follows a kid named Tsukumo, Rei, he's a kid that just enrolled to a new school. It does seem that he has some problems with him self but he ignores them. 1st day in school after class ends he gets really tired for some unknown reason and his chest starts to hurt so he fall's asleep, after sometime he wakes up but the world isn't the same as it was before. Around him there are weird creatures that are weird shapes and forms. The creatures don't seem to be hostile against him especially a fluffy small and cute dog like creature that seem to like him for no obvious reason. He thinks he's going crazy so after that he goes home. On his way home there's a creature but its not like the others its completely dark/black, it has a hat and a one eye. Rei after witnessing the creature stops in his tracks and its unable to move the presence of the creature is making him stay still, he knows that if he wont move he will get killed. The creature stabs him with his hand and opens a dark like wound that doesn't seem to bleed Rei starts losing his consciousness the dog like creature tries to protect him and Rei passes out. Rei wakes up in the morning in his room, he thinks everything was a dream but the dog like creature is still here. He can only see the dog like creature now the other creatures have suddenly disappeared. He goes to school like normal, he finishes school and goes home. While going home there's a dark like creature not the same as yesterday a lot smaller and simpler he fights it and it goes trough weirdly smooth but when the creature is on the ground it grabs him buy his neck and stars choking him. Rei is shocked and then a random guy named Otogiri Tobi saves him.

WHAT DID A LIKE ABOUT THE STORY?
The story has a good premise and a good vibe to it, it gives me that mysterious feeling. I think the whole thing about these creatures is interesting how they act and look. I am interested in those dark creatures.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
The manga is new it only has 9 chapters so it doesn't have any drastic problems. But the only thing that bugged me a bit was the way story progresses it's a bit weird but still readable.

The art is good sometimes it lacks but sometimes is weirdly beautiful.

Story has a good premise i am looking forward to where this manga will go.

Overall i will give this manga a 7/10. It had me interested enough to read trough and it was enjoyable


So yeah that's about it. I made this review because no one did one before me, its my first review so go easy on me. I will return to this manga after some time has passed about 2-3 years to see where the story progressed. That's all.

I have been a huge fan of Eve's music for about a year and a half now. The music videos are always amazing and while reading the manga I was just estatic! I accidentally discovered it and went to find the quickest way possibly I could read it.

In short: If you like the music you will like the manga! I was so excited when I recognized the characters from the music videos, it made me feel like I was in on a bigger story before it even started!

The art was absolutely stunning, I expect nothing less of NEWO. The characters are all very ... likeable and have a certain mystery about them that is enjoyable and anticipating. I love concepts like "another world in our own" which is essentially what this story is so far. Can't wait to see more!

The story of Kara no Kioku is written by the singer Eve. Many of the characters come from his music videos, so if you are familiar with those, it is a delight to read. I really do like this manga, but it's not perfect by far, so I have both negative and positive things to say about it. We'll get the bad things out of the way first so we can focus on the good!

It is obvious that this manga was made specifically so the fans begging Eve to make an anime could have something to satisfy them. This isn't a ... bad thing, but shoving as many music video characters in and then immediately forgetting about them is confusing. There are also pacing and plot problems, which I'm assuming exist because Eve--bless his heart--is not a writer. However, the story is still enjoyable and I do look forward to each chapter. What I dislike is waiting a month (maybe two) for a chapter that is sixteen pages, and for very little plot progression to occur.

Okay, I think I have all the criticism out of my system. What I love most are the characters. All of them are dynamic and lovable. Rei is quiet and anxious (relatable), and Tobi is the cool, powerful, and mysterious one you can't help crushing on. The art is good and lends sort of gritty quality to the dark story. The story is legitimately exciting and has me wondering what will happen next.

Overall, it's a fun story that I would recommend but it's tainted by the fact that I know this story could have be done better by someone with more writing experience.

Spoilers! I've been a big fan of Eve's work from his video and now his manga. I watch a lot of the videos but the first one I watched was How to Eat Life. After understanding some of the videos and the Zingai from his videos it really amazed me when I finished chapter 16 called How to Eat Life in the manga. This is only a theory though, but subtle meanings of eating a life probably talk about the emotions he goes through. I think before he really trusted his heart form he feels like he was becoming a shadow himself. However, because he ... hunts shadows as an exorcist he probably ironically has never dealt with his own problems and emotions.

I now have two questions after reading the manga. One is who is Hitosume's host and two is what is Hitosumes power. I think the host is Bun-chan from Literary Nonsense makes more sense so far than any other characters. It seems like Hitosumes power can unlock something in people or influence them in a good way. Maybe he can make one's own Zingai unlock a transformation like shown here in the manga. Hitosume seems like a wise sage character that guides some of the characters in Eve's stories, so this power might make sense for Tobi hunting down Hitosume, so he can fix Tobi's problem of never being taught how to use a fork (or otherwise means that he was never told how to process his own emotions). I've been thinking about a different possible host like Kurukuru. However, he as a host feels like a loose assumption and it can be reasonably not Kurukuru as he literally suffers from his thought that people hate him and that he'll die if anyone tries to rip his mask off.

Two words. Fight Song.

Since discovering that song, plus looking into the artist. That's how I became interested in this, and honestly.. It's my first foray into manga, and in my genuine opinion. I'd say if you're new to manga, or like the vibe set up by Jujutsu Kaisen, and looking for a good time sink (Vet Manga readers might say otherwise, this is my thought.) check this one out. Currently 10 chapters into it, and its been a ride thus far. The characters are set up to your typical 'slice of life' cast, but with the twist it gives, it breaths a bit of ... fresh air into the genre, least in my experience. The world has me gripped, and I'm going to follow this one until it finishes! Genuinely hope this one gets an anime adaptation! It needs to be brought to life by someone.

Hope this continues at the pace it's going. Because if it does, I am hooked all the way.
