Tales of Destiny is a game I once played at a friends place on the Playstation 1, but only remembered minor details about its story and characters. Since playing the game again after several decades later, I wanted to see if there was an anime for it; there wasn't. But noticing that there was a manga for it I immediately looked up where it could be read and began reading it from start to finish. The story follows a young long haired blond swordsman by the name of Stahn Aileron who was found by a couple of security guards inside one of the cargo holds

in a flying ship. He was trying to hitch a free ride to a certain town, but ended up being forced by the Captain of the ship to swab the deck as a form of payment for the free ride. Not long after the ship got attacked by a hoard of monsters, forcing Stahn to look for a weapon to fend himself with, and the weapon he found was a sword of fire that granted him the ability to cast fire magic, and officially made him one of three Swordian's in a quest to destroy the Eye of God, as well as the final boss who was just so happening to be using the energy/power of the Eye of God to become the god of the world.
Along the way, Stahn meets up with allies who fight along side of him. Some were already Swordians like him from the beginning (E.g., Rutee); whereas, others eventually became Swordians throughout the journey (E.g. Philia) During their journey through the vast lands and kingdoms of the fantasy world this manga takes place in, Stahn discovers that a lot of the stories that were told to him as a child (which he thought was just urban legends) were actually true. This makes him become even more serious about his Destiny as a Hero who desires to change the world for the better, and only makes him stronger and wiser. He learns that there was a great war in ancient times between two civilizations, which had a lot to do with the Lenses that they uncover throughout the journey, and that the war ended after a darkness filled the land, separating the landers from the sky civilians. The ones that took lodge in the skies, did so, so that they would essentially not have to live under dark and gloomy weather all the time.
I really liked the cast of characters in this manga, ESPECIALLY, Rutee. She, being the thief girl of the party, that has an obnoxious and hot-tempered personality, and a love for Gald, just stood out to me the most. I also liked Philia though for her shyness and gradually developing confidence levels throughout the stories Chapters. Other characters I really enjoyed in this manga ranged from Stahn of course to Leon to Chelsea to Mary.
I did give the manga a 10/10 because it was unique. Had interesting characters that you don't see in just any manga series, had a great fantasy/adventure feel to it, and a story that was fairly captivating all the way through. I did not rate this manga very critically, simply because, although, not perfect and a little outdated, it felt unique and special to me throughout the read.
