The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Manga featuring protagonists between the ages of 30 and 40. Manga featuring protagonists who are 40 years of age or older. All the Shojo and Josei manga releasing in print format in 2024! If im missing anything please feel free to let me know <3 An interest stack featuring the top 20 winners of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" (This Manga is Amazing! aka このマンガがすごい) annual magazine for 2020, with female and male winners included (so 40 winners total). This list is specifically for the Shojo and Josei licenses Tokyopop has come out with in English AFTER their major implosion in the 2000s, so it focuses on what they've published after re-entering the english market. I tried to compile an extensive list of the English Licensed Shojo and Josei manga titles where romance is a sub-plot at best, if present at all (many of these don't have any romance present). I'm defining "modern" Shojo and Josei manga to mean anything that began being published in 2013 or later. Obviously personal taste plays a role in whether you'll like something. I'm also trying to focus on Shojo and Josei manga licensed in English officially, so some excellent stories will sadly be missing from this list (they should probably get their own at some point). |
