Absolutely brutal, in every sense of the word. I've been itching for a darker, grittier, gory take on the Fate franchise. F/T R delivers, and with what a punch it does so!

Note: It seems like being acquainted with FGO would help out with the background of the characters involved here. I have only rudimentary knowledge, yet I still enjoy it a lot. So, if you're a non-FGO Fate fan like me, it's still a banger. If you're an FGO fan, I could only assume Redline is like a blood-splattered, murderous Christmas coming earlier to you.

Our MC is a bit of a self-insert compared to some ... other Fate spin-offs, but nothing too bad. I foresee he'll experience some growth, judging from how the chapters are going.

The strength here lies in the servants, who are batshit insane and exciting to have around. It's on the Fate/Strange Fake levels of hype, just more focused on the darker historical context compared to F/SF which balances out gore with comedy.

The best aspect of Fate/Type Redline is the art. It's been a while since I've saved so many panels in my Best Of folder. Nobunaga under a sky of flying Messerschmitts; Saber going ham with bloodlust; there are a ton of killer scenes turned into masterpiece artwork.

I'm very happy to see a spiritual successor of Fate/Zero with the batshit insanity and bloodthirsty nature of war amped up to the maximum. A solid 9/10!

Fate Redline, my God what a start to an ongoing series. So far I've only gone down 10 chapters into the series and it is looking promising. I didn't know I needed a WW2 setting fate WITH JAPANESE HEROIC SPIRIT until I saw Redline. Redline has a good balance of action, dialogue and lore where even if you only tell someone the base premise of the holy grail war, they would still be able to understand the story without reading/watching previous works.

Ok, time to get into the manga and the nitty gritty things. The manga offers superb art style with highly detailed manga panels ... with some 2 page spans that can be found occasionally. I know art style is subjective, but you can't deny how nice it looks, especially with nobunaga, really love her design. As for the characters, they could do some work, but at least the mc isn't horny for his own grandma which is good because most series these days tend to do the opposite if you know what I mean. I guess time will tell because there isn't much out yet and nothing much can be said for the characters, but overall, can say the characters are pretty good so far.

Overall if I am really comparing to the other fate series I have seen (Fate Zero, UBW, HF, Apocrypha, FGO), this probably hooked me the most out of them all I am not gonna lie. In general, this manga hooked me really fast from the first chapter which says something.

In conclusion, if you like fate and nasu's other work, you are definitely gonna like this one. It's a fresh take and the art style is beautiful.

I'll start this review by saying that I'm biased. I love Okita in the mobile game, only reason I started reading this manga.

And boy am I glad I did. It's a great manga. The art style is superb, and the plot is pretty interesting.

Starting off with the main character, he's not the greatest protagonist of all time, but he's got one key trait: believable. And even relatable. He's thrown into the plot with very basic knowledge of magecraft, just enough so that he can believe his eyes. And the way he reacts and adapts to his surroundings is relatable to a certain degree to ... the average reader.

His servant, Okita is cute and scary. Beautiful out of combat, downright brutal yet elegant during a fight. She's a bit more evolved than her joke-self in the mobile game, but that was the premise of the manga. A more serious take on Koha Ace.

We've also got supporting Fujiya who serves pretty much the same role Rin does in the original fate, but I can forgive her. And there's also a minor twist about her relating to the Main character.

The plot resolves around a Holy Grail war taking place at the end of WW2 in Japan and features mostly Japanese servants that many might know from other fate media. I enjoy the dynamics between the currently shown masters and servants and between each others.

There's also some pretty interesting subplots happening in the background which I can't wait to see where they go.

Only downside is that well, the main antagonist so far seems a bit generic in his motivation. Definitely plausible, but a bit tired when it comes to his main tropes and cliches.

Overall 10/10 Okita-san Daishouri! Must read for Okita fans.
