Some titles have their own style added into the manga, this is totally fine - so cartoonish features and anatomically incorrect proportions are fine - so long as backgrounds or character art is high quality and reminiscent of realistic imagery/CGI then its eligible for this list.

What definitely makes manga great would be that it goes over a broad range of themes/topics. Manga isn't afraid of addressing taboo topics, nor does it avoid concepts that most other entertainment mediums WOULDN'T DARE to touch. They also provide an imaginative exploration of how the Japanese perceive these topics. We rarely get cultural perspectives on certain topics.

Highly-detailed. Simplistic. Dreamlike and magical. Realistic. Heavily stylized. Bold lines. Sketchy lines. Effective shading and highlights. Panels structured for dynamic visual storytelling that make full use of their medium rather than putting box after box in front of you because it is "just a comic".

What makes up "good art" is subjective. Regardless, some manga have a certain quality to their visuals that sets them apart from others.

The below selections contain different types of art and composition, but each of them makes the best use of it for the story they want to tell.
