1/10 no Hanayome is an enjoyable manga, if you like borderline hentai with a semi-decent plot and characters.

Here is a quick run-down of things that should be mentioned but aren't on the official synopsis on MAL:
Zaizen (the MC) had a girlfriend (Natsuki) in high school. She asked for 20 million yen to help with her ill mother but she never returned again. A few years later, Zaizen has to choose 1 of the 10 candidates to marry. The problem is apparently one of the candidates is Natsuki but with a different appearance. ... There is also the Joker, in which if she is chosen to be married, Zaizen will lose his entire fortune. There are also 2 other candidates who are solely after his money. Which means 6/10 are 'regular' participants.

I did enjoy this manga, even though neither 2 of my favourite girls won the game, which sucks.

The art is great, about half of the characters are decently written-the other half you might as well forget about.

The ending is bittersweet, it features a time skip 4 years later with Zaizen and the wife being happy together, with a quick mention of what all the other past characters are up to now.


If you like this manga, I highly recommend Tamarowa, it's almost an identical premise except from a woman's perspective as a marriage candidate

Hoping reading this review helps you decide if you want to pick this one up into your list. Stumbling upon this manga and finding if it's worthy of your time, you'll be the judge of that.


⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The reason why I read this manga in the first place was the Art Style of the cover of the manga. To tell you the truth, the Art is pretty good. Is on par with a good H-doujin out there and I guaranty that you will not be disappointed. That is the only reason you'll probably remember this manga or its horrible story telling and this part is going to ... be the part the I really hate about this manga. The thing is I'm surprise that this manga get a serialization in the first place. Oh wait, I see now.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Anyway, what I'm trying to say that the author if this manga has a terrible way of expressing its story telling because of the badly written character's and its development. You know when reading some kind of literature, you have to feel and understand every action of that character and its surrounding so that you can be immerse. For this manga I don't feel that too immerse because of how the author of this manga has a terrible way of conveying story progression and the way the author add suspense and mystery to the story is just a let down. A hit or miss but mostly miss. By the time the manga end there are some question's left un-answered and the feeling of rushed kick's in. That's one of the reason why this manga utterly unsatisfying to read till the end.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀When it comes with the Character Development and its pacing of this manga. Oh boy. You know every manga out there has a character background story, right? Sorry to disappoint you that this is one of those manga that has a really disappointing way of telling you its character's background. Most of them is just so disappointing and only one or two people has a decent background story. The pacing of this manga it's like 0 to 100 quickly, it feel so rushed that you don't feel the build up of the tension of each character. To sum it up its pacing, it's disappointing. It pains me that this manga has a really interesting concept but poorly executed story telling and character development. What a shame.


That said and done, I did enjoy reading this till the end. Ultimately I did not like the ending *cough* Reika *cough* BEST GIRL*cough* but still I can recommend this to the veteran out there but not on the faint of heart but now that I think of it, it's mild not like other manga that I read out there that will left you scarred for the rest of your life. Side note that I read this on one setting and waited patiently to be finished.

"Is this some kind of legal hentai doujin?" is what I first thought. We got the s*x scene in the first chapter and keep getting it in the next chapters.
I don't mind how the story start, but the development afterward is horrible. It's too fast and nothing is logical. Okay, everyone has their own way to deal with things, so i won't blame the 'non-sense' matchmaking. But, is it that easy for people to change their feelings?? Every characters in this manga is so simple-minded and a bit random. And the mc, i know he's having a hard time and i feel sorry for ... him, but i also hate him. His misfortune was due to himself. He hated his state but he just kind of accepted it while cursed it, without doing anything to change it.
I started to feel sick reading this after we were given the scene that the main character's father did 'that' with one of the candidates. I am a reader who always tries to feel how the characters in the stories I read feel. So, I don't into like 'rotten scheming' nor 'ntr'. But, let's just leave it like that.
I almost dropped this manga several times, but I kept reading it in hopes that something would change the course of the story. But, the thing I was looking for didn't come, instead the story got so bad that I wanted to give this manga a score of 1.
I strengthened myself and made it to the last chapter published at that time. The reason I raised the score was because the 'hope' I had been waiting for had finally come. In that chapter, we got a wave that seems to be changing the storyline and will make the story a bit more interesting.
As a conclusion, i still not change my opinion that say this manga is legal version of doujin hentai. But, i still want to see how the story will end, so the real quality can be determined then.
