This review will be broken up into two segments: The manga itself, then audiobook.

I don't know a good way of explaining this other than simply stating it; Being a straight, male adult, I am not the target audience You Are My Princess. Yet, I still enjoyed "reading" this work. Although this wasn't my first exposure to the yaoi world, it was the first time I completed something of this genre. I really don't have ... anything to which I can compare this work. Compared to some other manga I've read, You Are My Princess has a refreshing and shocking factor, probably because I didn't truly know what I was getting myself into.
This being a one-volume work, there is only so much space for introduction of characters and plot, but nothing felt too rushed. I was quick to pick up interest in the lives of our two protagonists.
The art was nothing special, but in no way bad. I would have had more time to appreciate it and soak in some finer details if I read at my own pace instead of using the audio book.

CDawgVA recorded his journey through creating the audiobook from start to finish on his YouTube channel, so the real enjoyment came from listening to the final product. The voice actors fit their roles very well. Hearing the voice actors' performances was far better than trying to sort out all the different voices of characters in my head. The careful balancing of character dynamics gives the audiobook/manga pair a feeling similar to an anime. Full marks to CDawgVA and everyone who worked on the project to make it come alive and far more entertaining.

Ultimately, I would not have read through You Are My Princess if this audiobook didn't exist and I didn't have some free time I wanted to kill. I wouldn't recommend other people like me to go out of their way to read this manga, but if you are a fan of yaoi, You Are My Princess would be a good read, especially paired with the awesome audio book.

I picked up Kimi wa Boku no Ohimesama randomly, I just needed something to read today in the morning but boy, do I regret it. I don't have any way to describe it other than I felt like I was reading a fanfiction by a 14yo girl obsessed with both disney and gay couples but have no idea of how they actually work, so instead of getting a very bad BL, we got a VERY bad shoujo manga, because it honestly seemed like I was reading a manga about an extremely disjointed straight couple, but gay. Cinderella? Princess? Prince? Really? Like are you 100% for ... real right now?

There's nothing inherently wrong with the plot per se other than the weird obsession with the "Princess" nickname (and actually carrying Itsuji like a princess when he was clearly uncomfortable?), but that's honestly more than enough. Takajo is creepy, pretty much a stalker, uncomfortably pushy and as a couple they have as much chemistry and depth as a rock and door, which is to say, they don't have anything going for them other than the random personal kinks the author decided to throw in there (I say personal kinks because there's no way to rationally explain some of the things that happened on this manga).

The only reasons I can't call it a waste of time is because now I know better than reading something by this author and Itsuji's cat plushy is super cute, I'd absolutely buy one.
