Before getting into the spoilers since this is currently the only review for the novel I tell you to go read it because it's fucking great.
A work that inspired many others. Most people probably have at least heard of it but it's usually the movie that they mention and it's a shame. This book is truly one of the best works I have read in my life, never have I found myself so engrossed in a story I stayed up all night to read all 800 pages. I can't even begin to explain why is this book so good and worth reading. We have 42

characters so I didn't expect to be get invested in all of them but the ones that we got to know better where simply brilliant. Especially Shinji Mimura, words cannot express how good his story arc was, the built up, the outcome, it ended tragically but oh boy was it satisfying. Every single page is interesting and doesn't feel like a drag.
Probably the best part of this story is how unpredictible it was (which in a sense is at the same time the biggest let down), obviously in a story like this you probably wonder who will win in the end but honestly not untill the very end I wasn't sure how it will end. This leads me to the only problem I had with this book which is the ending. It was bad. Right at the end we get not one, not two but three sudden turns of events each being worse than the other I would've honestly prefered it if they keept the first one making Kawada win. Despite this I still think it deserves all the praise. The overall story is so good I can't deny it even when the ending was bad and I say this as a person whose judgement over the whole media can be greatly affected by the ending.
