Horror manga with some combination of ancient religious beliefs versus the modern era, terror lurking in the country, fear of the spirits and gods, and often dangerous encounters between the outsiders and the isolated village. Due to the genre often being associated with Western horror, entries may not have all of these elements but will have most of them. Just a list of Shojo and Josei manga that began publishing before 1990 that have been officially published in english, although some are Out of Print or from defunct digital publishers and thus are no longer legally available. I tried to compile an extensive list of the English Licensed Shojo and Josei manga titles where romance is a sub-plot at best, if present at all (many of these don't have any romance present). |
