The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞, Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan's major manga awards, sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$9,000). Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth.

The list of manga that are considered the most recognizable in Shonen genre, including the Big 3 of Shonen Jump. Can be used as a reference sheet for newcomers to the manga industry.

Critics & Connoisseurs was a club that was founded in 2008 and ended club activities on the 31st of 2022.

The goal of the club was to come up with a list of highly recommended quality shows and manga that are exemplary either within its genre or universally. A manga needed a 70% approval rate in our voting to get on the relation list. The following manga are all part of said list.
Do note that our club's main focus always was anime, our club's readership was relatively low which results in a lot of manga not being able to reach enough votes to get on the relation list despite having a 70% or higher approval rate.

Also sometimes labelled as a splatter, the main focus of the manga is well the blood, guts and dismembered body parts. Shock is a key element of this genre. Movies such as the SAW series are famous for the difficult-to-watch torture sequences, but what a bout the manga? some of them are BL or yuri. some of them just have random gay side characters. sometimes. the random side character is trans. if you are insane like me, you will read the whole thing just for that one queer character.

Do you know that guy who likes to ogle women? that guy who thinks about panty shots and boobs all the time? If you like that type, come here and read these, you're in for some sexy talk about girls.
Now, that doesn't mean that the manga is full ecchi, we're only talking about the protagonist and his insanity, how crazy is about the female body and wanting to cop a feel.

Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says.

No. 147 would be the Himitsu Series of books. It's for children and I can't find it on MAL. It has 116 volumes and started in 1972, and has sold 23 million (June 10th, 2018).
