Don't judge a book by its cover! This stack contains BL/Yaoi/Shounen Ai manga that have titles or covers that are confusing or misleading about the content that is inside.

The drawing style in BL manga can vary greatly, from more simple and sketchy to very fine and detailed, from more realistic to the typical manga style. This stack contains a selection of BL/Boys Love/Yaoi manga with rather detailed and/or manga-like drawing styles of handsome guys and sex scenes. I'm trying to include only 1 work per artist. If you like the drawing style I recommend checking out their other works as well.

This stack contains BL manga where they start out as friends with benefits but slowly recognize their feelings for each other.

Emotions and feelings are something that is delivered in many BL manga to varying degrees. This stack is a collection of BL manga that are quite emotional, not only in the sense of sad/desperate feelings but also considering the emotions when a bad looking situation gets resolved.

BL I’ve completed and enjoyed reading. All of these manga are stuff I have reread multiple times. There are some manga on here with dubious consent so if that triggers you make sure to keep an eye out so that when you go to read it you aren’t blindsided. I hope you find something new to read! These are not even half of the BL manga that I’ve read so I will probably end up making more parts of this. (Working of Explanations!)

I’ve read a lot of boys love and most tend to blend together—these do not. These mangas leave a lasting impression because of one or more of the following qualities:

- compelling/effective and detailed/vivid ART; bonus of distinctiveness in style
- evocative, dynamic, intelligible COMPOSITION
- impactful/cinematic, fluid PANELLING
- gorgeous CHARACTER ART (in terms of physical appearance only); bonus of memorable or iconic character DESIGN
- naturalistic, non-sentimental DIALOGUE
- thoughtful CHARACTERISATION resulting in believable or relatable/multidimensional/complex characters who can exist and are interesting as individuals outside of the romance
- CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT that’s natural, reflected in character action/interiority, and are depicted in depth
- interesting character RELATIONSHIPS that are well-developed, grounded and complex, and/or with bonds that can be felt; irresistible character chemistry
- compelling, creative, coherent (visual) STORYTELLING in which narrative techniques are used deftly to develop the story and its elements
- THEMES are woven into the narrative and are explored in depth and with nuance to provoke thought/give deeper insight or different perspective into a topic

Sadness in various levels, from "a little bit teary eyed" to "absolutely bawling my eyes out". Some happy tears, some heartbreakingly tragic.

Most of the series are completed, from different genres and themes, not in any particular order.

the long awaited sequel to the first stack! there are more guilty pleasure and atypical picks on this one and the criteria is really just to leave an impression on me instead of being 10/10 perfect bangers, so be warned!
