Both series are drawn by Hara Tetsuo and contain similar styles of writing. Basically, if you like Fist of The North Star then you'll enjoy these manga. Blue as a character is similar to Kasumi Kenshiro as both behave in a more disrespectful and laid back manner in contrast to Kenshiro's respectful demeanor. These manga also include their own version of Raoh with Cyber Blue being a lion hybrid while Blue Sky features Raoh as a Nazi. Cyber Blue is a sci-fi gunslinger series while Fist of The Blue Sky is focused on martial arts, however both series are manly!

Both stories act as the origin of their family lineage; carrying an emphasis on destiny, martial arts, masculinity and tragic story telling.

Gangster related story arcs, outrageous violence, fights featuring assassins, & a main character whose friends are criminals.

Manly martial artists who are perfecting their respective fighting style. Both heroes are very brash & comical while also developing an odd friendship with a Nazi.

Both manga are drawn by Tetsuo Hara, so the art is very similar. They both have muscular main characters, epic battles and similar motifs, and even some relation to mythology.

Both manga have a similar type of storytelling, as they focus mostly on battles. The main characters are quite similar, as they are both confident and righteous. They even look alike too. Both manga are filled with epic battles, heroic sacrifices and likable villains.

Aside from the manly protagonists bearing resemblance to Kenshiro, both Blue Sky & Riki-Oh have a religious undertone dealing with the segregation of the Jewish community along some aspects of Buddhism and other beliefs. Riki-Oh's story is a mix of revenge and repentance with certain supernatural events. Fist of The Blue Sky is set in a realistic setting with Kasumi Kenshiro defending his family by using the assassination fist of "Hokuto Shinken".

These prequel stories feature a hero growing into a proper man and in my opinion are highly recommended to manly enthusiasts.
