Two great sports manga with lovely character design and compelling story!

They are both about main characters trying hard to pursue what the love against their families will and both have a gender bender aspect to the MC. Also, the thing I love about them both is that the characters progression in their passion isn't unbelievable. eg. deus ex machina: "You will be awesome at this" kapow.

Well both mangas are based on figure skating. Both protagonists are funny and good and tries their hardest to improve. The plot is not that similar but If you're looking for a romance-comedy manga about figure skating, ginban is definitely a choice and checking it out is worth it : )

While "Pluck the stars, Donna" involves ballet instead of figure skating, they both have very similar art forms and the main protagonist in both stories can be considered genius'. The emotion you feel in the story when you hope for their success is also quite similar. If you enjoy dance or artistic sports then this will turn into a great read.

protag who initially practiced one sport, after an encounter begins to practice another. I-Revo is more shounen-typical despite having a female main character, while Letra straddles the bar with a more shoujo style of dealing with emotions and friendships. little bit of gender bending in both, Letra with the shoes and I-revo with her skating style and initial appearance. Letra has a bigger focus on relationships and the impact one has on the people around them as well as looking at things with a more realistic treatment. I-revo is a typical sports manga but for figure skating, with a girl who wants to reconnect with her femininity  read more

similar unexpected sport, Dancing and figure skating. protag gets into sport, gets crush, there's a samegender athlete who is much better than them at the same dance school/rink, continues in sport to try and change themself, quirky award-winning male coach.

Hikaru no Go is about a board game and Ice Revolution is about figure skating, but they have very similar main characters. Both of them become good at what they do very quickly to chase someone, and both of the mangas have the tournament-based pattern.

Both have heroines that found out about figure skating, fell in love with it and want to become the best.

A strong focus on figure skating as a backdrop for plot progression. Romance is also an obvious similarity.

Both manga are about girls whose passion is figure skating on ice.

Ice revolution is pretty much Slam Dunk with reverse genders. Both Sakuragi and Misaki (protagonists) are initially violent, idiotic characters but have exceptional talent with their respective sport. Both characters have 'rivals' with indifferent attitudes to the protagonists (Rukawa and Saaya), yet would at times would act as their mentor. The reason the protagonists took up basketball/ice skating was to get closer to their love interests (Haruko and Kaoru) which coincidently, are more interested in their rivals than the protagonists. Eventually, both protagonists grow to love the sport despite initial intentions.

Both protagonists are girls who had dads that trained them to be like guys (strong, athletic, etc.) They also both have really great detailed art. The plotlines aren't really similar but they both have the work-hard-for-goal thing going for them.

Both feature masculine girls who no longer want to do the male dominated sport their father encourages them to do. Instead they want to be more feminine, but that may prove difficult since it's something they are simply not used to.
reportRecommended by adamantine
Both manga are geared towards figure skating - profoundly focusing on characters who are exceptionally talented at the sport despite having no prior experience.
