One thing you have to know about this manga is that it is just pure. The story of how an elderly man and a cat find the joys of life together just warms your heart. Both of them go through various struggles- Fukumaru coming in terms that he is loved and the gentleman dealing with the passing of his wife. And this is revealed gradually though the chapters. So once we have a very light hearted one and other times the themes are heavier but it always ends in the man and the cat helping each other. So the result is a adorable slice of

I have never owned a cat before but this manga made me feel like i had. This series will pull all of your heart strings. I fell in love with this captivating story from day 1. The character development throughout this story is amazing I instantly fell in love with both the main characters. I have recommended this series to all of my friends and they all think im gay. I really hope im not the only person who loves this manga.
The manga starts with a fairly good art style but you could see that it could use some minor improvements. The latest chapter ... Jun 16, 2021
I think I've cried more times reading this manga than reading any other thing. Not even a sad story has made me cry so constantly. Perhaps with the exception of one chapter or another, the tears have been a constant.
Whether it's from laughter at the typical struggles of a cat owner (I have 4 cats trust me everything here is incredibly accurate) or of sadness from learning more about our adorable and handsome number one cat dad life or just from the pure wholesomeness... The tears will always come. It's simulteanously the best and most heartbreaking thing to see Fukumaru getting called a "good boy" and ... May 14, 2021
I hate this manga so much, every chapter kept squeezing my heart and tears were not stopping.
I have never owned a cat before but reading this manga made me desperately want a cat. This is the first ever manga that made me cry multiple times in a row- IT'S SO SWEET AND HEARTWARMING LIKE GODDAMN JUST LET ME READ WITHOUT HAVING TEARS IN MY EYES FOR GOD SAKE! It also goes in-depth on loneliness but not in a dramatic way. Even though we never get to see the full backstory of the Ojisama, I still cry for him even though I only know a small portion ... Story - 10
Art - 10 Character - 10 Enjoyment - 10 Overall - 10 Plot - a widowed man buys a cat. This is their life together. It's a very simple idea, but wow. It's executed SO WELL. The themes of found family, friendship, love and caring for each other are done so well, as are those of loneliness, hopelessness and abandonment. It's definitely a series to read if you love cats. If you like music, it's probably a series you'd enjoy as many of the main characters are either professional players or teach at music schools. It's a hugely emotive series, be it of laughter or sadness, and ... Apr 25, 2023
This heartwarming manga is a must-read for any animal lover and anyone looking for a heartwarming story that will tug at your heartstrings.
The story follows a middle-aged man named Kanda, who is going through a difficult time in his life. He's recently lost his job, his wife has left him, and he's struggling to find purpose in his life. One day, he comes across a stray cat and decides to take him in. The cat, whom he names Fukumaru, is an adorable and loving companion who helps Kanda get through some of his toughest moments. What sets this manga apart is how the relationship between ... Jan 13, 2025
It’s too mundane for me
Which is insane — I am one who reads pretty varied manga, I’d like to say at least. Bar a few genre’s like ecchi there aren't many types of manga I wouldn’t give a fair shot. However, this manga bored me. Don’t get me wrong at all, I can definitely see the demographic of people this is made for, an lonely old man adopting a big rotund baby speaking cat, it’s the set up for one of those wholesome youtube stories you’d see on “restoring faith in humanity”, but it’s all just so uneventful. In the short few chapters I read ... Mar 6, 2022
So I have decided to read this because it’s been recommended a lot and I understand that Akidearest was talking about it in a “Monthly Otaku” video a long time ago. It’s very wholesome ngl like I love cats myself even if they are menacing creatures and the old man in this has got style literally. I wouldn’t call it my personal best because all it’s about is a cat and a widower bonding that’s basically it..
I was even surprised as well that this got a Jdrama adaption recently and the cat in that looks wtf bro XD Overall I would definitely recommend everyone ... |
