Favorites: 103 | New Interest Stack Interest StacksThese Boys Love series feature characters who have disabilities. They may be partially or fully blind, deaf or mute, use a wheelchair, or have some other handicap that affects their way of life. I'm disabled, so I read a lot of content looking for representation. A common problem with this content is that it is not handled well and/or is actually ableist. I wanted to make a list of disability representation, or stories with disabled characters in general, that are safe for anyone else looking for representation or perhaps hoping to learn more about disabilities. This is a list of manga that cover heavy and emotional topics like anxiety, disability, depression, and suicide. Blanket content warning applies. I’ve been reading BL for 10 years now, so I really needed a compilation of good works with young-adult/university students. Derived from AniFem's General Recommendations and Queer Representation Recommendations Part 2: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/56334 This stack is focused on physical disabilies. Probably my fav BLs I've read/am still reading. Includes Manga without spicy scenes at all as well as those where they are only included in bonus chapters Bawled my eyes out reading these, but that's why they're excellent. Some of them are truly tragic, but some are happy tears inducing (up to you to figure out which is which!). DISCLAIMER: not every title on this list is trying to be a "good and realistic representation". You've been warned. Here is a list of manga I have found to have good disability reps for disabled characters and readers. As a person with a disability, nothing means more to me than real representation! These publishers don't have a big enough catalog to make a stack for each, so I'm combining them here. |
