A chronological selection of the most important works of Osamu Tezuka, a timeless influential figure on the medium and one of the greatest artists of all time.

These entries are listed keeping in mind its historical relevance, their context in Tezuka's life, and their overall influence on the mangascape. I believe the following titles would help you understand more about his style, life, and contribution to Japanese media. It is not comprehensive and should be treated as a jumping point for such a colorful career.

Most of these titles are available in English.

Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says.

No. 162 would be Nippon no Rekishi. It's for children and I can't find it on MAL. It has 24 volumes and started in 1981, and has sold 20.2 million (March 19th, 2020).

No. 165 would be Cuffs - Kizu Darake no Chizu by Jin Tojo, and has sold 20 million (February 14th, 2022).

No. 183 would be The Tale of Genji by Waki Yamato. Couldn't find exactly which one it was she made, and has sold 20 million (May 1st, 2021).

The joke here is communication about these is kinda weird unless specified that the response itself is the title.
"What's your fav manga?"
> Undecided.

Or if someone tuning in to a conversation between weebs would be extremely confused about it either by controversy or u sounding illiterate af:
> "My favourite manga is In Hand"
> "I love Children" ☠️☠️

I will also include series that are difficult to search and result in the complete opposite. eg;
Searching "Goth manga"
> The manga itself doesn't show, only images full of Misa Amane lmfao

I've put together a list of manga written by Tezuka Osamu, that was officially licensed and released in physical or digital format in the English language (mostly from North American releases). Tezuka's works in English are a mix of titles still being printed and circulated, and out of print. There are a varity of editions from comic book 'floppies', softback, hardbacks, and even boxed collections! This is a fan guide to figure out if the copies you are reading or buying are from legitimate sources.

This list is NOT complete, I'm merely one person and have probably missed a title or two.

Notes about Publisher's: Vertical Inc. was acquired by Kodansha USA in 2011, and fully absorbed in 2020. Any titles that were licensed to Vertical Inc. are currently distributed digitally via Kodansha USA with infrequent reprintings.

Digital Manga Publishing (DMP), and Digital Manga Guild Publishing/Publication (DMGP) are two branches of the same company as far as I am aware. DMP tends to be physical copies, DMGP is digital copies. Physical copies are sold via their website eManga, and Amazon. Digital copies can be found on eManga, via the following statement:

"eManga is Digital Manga, Inc.'s own one stop online shop for manga, originally established back in 2008. Providing manga both digitally (in a variety of downloadable formats) and physically, in 2018, eManga merged with DMI's print store - Akadot - to house everything in one place". [taken from eManga's website]

NOT LISTED IN DATABASE
+"Shakespeare Manga Theater", Ablaze Manga, 2024.
Stories included: The Merchant of Venice, Robio and Robiette from Astro Boy, Macbeth from Vampires, Hamlet from Rainbow Parakeet, The Taming of the Shrew from Rainbow Parakeet, Othello from Rainbow Parakeet. As well as essays, afterword commentary and more.
Digital version on Azuki: https://www.azuki.co/series/shakespeare-manga-theatre

TITLES THAT WILL BE ADDED IN A VOLUME TWO:
-Tetsuwan Atom Bekkan, 2002-2004 including with the Dark Horse edition of "Astro Boy".
-Vampires, 2024 select chapters via "Shakespeare Manga Theater".
-Rainbow Parakeet, 2024 selection chapters via "Shakespeare Manga Theater".

If you have more information on titles available to add to this list, please shoot me a DM and I'll add it accordingly. The more information you can provide, links, dates, etc the better off we as collectors will be!
