Girls Saurus DX is the direct continuation of Kei Kusunoki’s Girls Saurus manga and it proved to be just as funny as it’s predecessor but also just as redundant.

Being a sequel, the story continues on through Shingo Chiryuu’s day to day struggles with his girl phobia. Even with this fear of girls he has managed to attract the unwanted affection of various members of the opposite sex, which inevitably results in some hilarious situations. Well that’s the summary of this seemingly interesting Ecchi, Harem, Romantic, Comedy and being a sequel, the mangaka has had the time to correct the mistakes of the past and ... start anew but instead Girls Saurus DX is more flawed than its predecessor. One flaw being how inconsistent the story is; like when one minute our protagonist doesn’t have a problem telling people about his girl phobia and the next he’s being blackmailed into having it revealed. Just doesn’t add up. Well it’s best not to go into detail about all the flaws yet the one that sticks out would always be the nature of this story. It’s the same old series of self contained chapters where some scenario is established and concluded within 30+ pages. Sure it’s easy to get a few laughs from these oneshots but it’s just as easy to grow weary of the same old recycled jokes. Also like in the previous Girls Saurus, absolutely no significant story progression or romantic development occurs, which doesn’t justify the absurd length of this manga.

The cast of characters are the same interesting bunch as before however instead of developing the one she’s already got, the mangaka decides to add some new ones. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the new characters didn’t comply with the most profoundly annoying clichés in the genre. Just witnessing the same girl trip up at least once every chapter would make anyone value the creative genius of this mangaka. The same can be said about the complete “realism” of the character’s motivations; like getting to 2nd base with the girl who loves you, for revenge.

Well in the midst of these degraded values, at least the artwork remained unchanged but I cannot say if that’s a good or bad thing. Some may like the style; I just think it’s decent enough for the comedy.

In the end this mangaka really hasn’t learnt much, since it is pretty much the same as before. Sure if you enjoyed the frequent panty flashes and humorous moments in the prequel you’ll enjoy them here however if you were hoping for some kind of development then you think too highly of this mangaka. In fact Kei Kusunoki thinks to highly of herself and that’s evident by how big of a deal she made when adding the most annoying character to the story. It is quite sad because there were so many opportunities in this manga to make an interesting story of love & laughs but I guess she just forgot the love… and the interesting.

Just a warning: I read Girls Saurus DX first then I just went and finished Girls Saurus (the prequel) just right now.

Girls Suarus DX is about a guy named Chiryuu Shingo. At first he seems like an average high school boy, but you later finds out that he has Gynophobia, or fear of women. Now at first it seems that there shouldn't be much of a problem, all he has to do is just avoid girls. That is the very problem. Because of his "cool" nature of trying to avoid girls, girls tend to like him. so he has a flock of girls chasing ... him. How is he going to get rid of his phobia?

Story: If you have read Girls Saurus, then you won't be surprised about what is going on and would get the nature of this manga. IF you haven't read the prequel skip to the next paragraph. Basically for those of you who HAVE read the prequel, it is a continuation of the madness that happened in the prequel. Girls Suarus DX is filled with the same kind of jokes and laughter. If you liked the first one, there is a chance that you might like Girls Saurus DX. If you are hoping for more plot/character development, you shouldn't bother reading then because it is almost the same as the first except longer and more laughter.

Now for those of you who HAVE NOT READ the prequel. Girls Saurs DX is somewhat of a comedy manga, with practically no plot development. If you are worried about missing anything in the prequel, don't be. Basically Girls Saurus DX does a great job of explaining things in the first few chapters about Shingo's problems and you should be fine. Now I will warn you that this manga has no plot/character development, if it does, I would have to say really little, or it took too long. So if you are looking for some decent plot in a romantic comedy like scenario, this is not the manga for you. BUT if you are looking for a short read and a laugh and don't have to worry about any important development, then this should work out for you.

Art: The art is pretty decent. The characters don't look too bad. They are well drawn, and the detail putted on them looked pretty good. Though many scenes are repetitive. So don't be surprised of the repeated scenes of Shingo's vision. Basically he sees every girl as a "dinosaur" hence the title Girls Saurus.

Character: As I stated above, there is almost no or little character development. In each chapter, Shingo is confronted with a problem (mainly dealing with girls). Now he finds some way, sometime pretty creative, to try to solve that problem. But in the end, he would get overwhelmed by girls or something like that. So it is repetitive, but funny to a certain extent. So if you are looking for a few good laugh, this should be a pretty good manga.

Enjoyment: This was a pretty short and fun read. I was surprised that the series ended so fast. Though some jokes get quite repetitive, but I just thought it was interesting how the author is able to stretch possible a plot that is worth maybe 10 ch max into 66. I have stated before that it is pretty repetitive, the idea yes, but the delivery no. So it was quite entertaining as I finished each chapter wondering what and how it will happen to Shingo next.

I had very little hope for this manga after it became clear that the most unlikable and forced romance was going to take place. In otherwords, after the first few chapters of the original manga this is a sequel to.

Story 1/10: Continuing from the original series complete disregard for believable characters or storytelling, and following the trend of sequels most often being not as good as the original... this iteration's story was complete trash.

I was terribly chalked full of filler to spread the story out for a longer period. When it did get to the story it had worse pacing than the anime "Grimgar of ... Fantasy and Ash", which is in itself a monumental achievement of failure since Grimgar was already at the very bottom of my list personally.The characters also acted in utterly ridiculous and stupid was simply to progress the plot of the moment forward, or for the most part maintain the status quo.

They also writ off the best and most reasonable girl in the first series, and then at the last minute before the series end chopped off the other appendage to the MC's harem in an almost equally dumb way.

Art 3/10: Some was decent or humourous, but the only reason it's rated this high is because boobs and lack of censorship, at least how I read it.

Characters 1/10: The only good character that was also the most likable was hacked off and mutually friend-zoned in the first series. They hinted that it may not have been the best decision, but never act on it.

This second series was TRASH with all it's shiny new one-off characters or living plot-devices. They even managed to have literally no character development whatsoever for anyone despite being almost 4 times as long as the original series.

Enjoyment 2/10: It's the visual equivalent to someone raking a chalkboard with a handful of actual metal construction nails. But with boobs.

Overall 1/10: I don't even remember where the actual hell I got the idea to read this from, but I wouldn't recommend this to anybody, or else they might catch autism from the author or cancer from how sheerly awful it is.

I now need to go get chemo therapy.
