They are both Soccer If you like this, you may also like Ao Ashi. Ao Ashi is more realistic and is definitely worth to read too

The mc is very similar in both the mangas. From character design to height personality and traits. Even the weaknesses are also kind of same like lack of raw power, just average techniques, relying only on instincts etc. Both manga try to deal with realistic scenarios rather than giving the characters crazy superpowers. So haikyuu is the volley ball version of ao ashi there are some differences in aspects of storyline but the essence of the mangas are quite same.

Both are coming-of-age stories where a protagonist with a special skill is scouted to play in a prestigious sports academy team. In their quest to become part of their new team and succeed they are brought to face harsh truths about themselves and must learn to perceive their own sport in new ways.

- Both series manage to tell about the competitive sports in a realistic way. - Main characters have talent but they have to work hard in order to get better - One of the rare cases in sports series where potential love interest has impact on the story If you like Aoashi or Baby Steps for these reasons there's a high chance you could check out both.
