| That recap must have felt like such a rip off when this was released back in 1988. Imagine looking on the back of the VHS or Laserdisc and reading 38 minute running time only to discover a third of that is a recap once you got it home to watch. Must have sucked. Given the next (and last) episode is titled Part 1 finale it makes me wonder if the story isn't complete and that those tactics for this episode are a big reason as to why. Saying all that the episode itself was alright, nice action and some fairly basic story developments but it was okay. Being this is the last episode in HD, apparently the film materials for the third episode are missing, I tired to lap up and enjoy every moment of the beautiful animation and yeah this episode looked pretty great again for the period. Well onto episode 3 I guess, though the flipping preview for it at the end of ep2 seemed to almost spoil half if not more of whats going to happen which is annoying. I understand the need to advertise whats coming but that seemed to be way too much detail. |

| Well... still great to look at, still utterly uninteresting to follow. The Professor is fun to watch though. 4/5 "Next, part 1 of the finale" ?! XD I know that there was at least a month, sometimes more, between the VHS releases of OAV series but 10min of summary are way too much! I wonder what was the average fees to take a tape from a videostore home for a day. BlaizeV said: this episode looked pretty great again for the period. I saw the expected quality for this period and format. |

| 11 minutes of recap...wow The animation is really nice, especially the luscious legs on the gals. But I had bones to pick with the writing. I understand Japan has a history of collective guilt, but even then Shazara's hatred for Lamba is just unbelievably retarded. It's not like Lamba is personally responsible. Even if the planet had fought to the death, the outcome would still have been the same (they don't look like the 'planet with a strong military' type). Still, that anger at Lamba would be believable, but then she says after this holocaust she joined the people who perpetrated it because she's mad the royal family surrendered? That's like a Jew joining the Waffen SS because she's mad Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler. |
| Weird audio work in the middle of the episode. Other than that, more cool robots! And a silly antagonist. The narrator of the preview sounded utterly unenthusiastic about that...I guess "part 2 of the finale" was realized in the sequel. Also, "dangaioh a desperate situation" probably hints at production issues, not only the story climax. |
