What the hell was that bullshit?

Just when I start to think "Well, Moritsugu's not evil even though he killed the President, then I guess everyone's just good and this is all one big misunderstanding..."

It turns out to be true. This is a new depth of lame, trying to pull out a Gurren-Lagann without the proper groundwork. It's cheap, lazy, and dumb.

WOW!! just WOW!!

This is the worst twist i ever see....

seriously now..if i understand clearly, all the fighting was part of a training? to make them better for the coming battles?

How can they do that?!? "to be prepare for the final battles"?? WTF, it's bullshit !!

They even asked to join? they ASKED?!? what if hayase said no again ? that mean they have trained them for nothing..at the end, it's stupid :P

Worst fucking plot twist ever!!!

Katou: The only reason I attacked this world was to prepare it for the upcoming invasion.

Random guy: But, couldn't you have just shared your weapons technology with us and helped us build our own Machinas to combat the invasion. It seems that doing it that way would save us all a lot of time and resources.

Katou:....SHUT UP!

This is the limit of how much of stupidness I can take. Dropped.
I can't believe I am dropping show at 22/24, but this is...damn...and when I think I really liked it till ep7-8.

MAAAAAN, that was so lame. I mean, whole plot was getting lamer and lamer, but this...this is beyond words. I can't find words to describe this horror.
What a mistake I made by saying that I found usefull the review which said this show is underrated, it was still while this show was ok...but now...damn, 6.6...WAAAY overrated.

I expected this twist, but it felt very half hearted
The Hayase x Risako and Hayase x Emi scenes also felt half hearted.

Emi acted too bitchy thats not her character.
I didn't like this ep ; (

This is the biggest misunderstanding ever! I finally understand it all. That means my hatred against Moritsugu Reiji was a mistake as well. He did gunned down Ishigami but it seems that was very necessary and his action was done in goodwill.

Yeah, seriously. While watching this episode I was like, "What the heck! This is just PATHETIC!" I don't usually watch these type of shows, yet this one really captured my interest. I also felt this series was underrated. I even have it rated as a 9 I liked it so much. With such a stupid plot twist, my love for this series has taken a big hit and will definitely have to lower my rating for it xD Well, I'd hate to drop it now regardless of how stupid it just got, so I hope the last two episodes are worth watching @_@

I'm not at all surprised. I kind of figured something like this would happen ever since Hisataka randomly started showing up and chatting with JUDE members throughout the series as if he wasn't a threat to them.

This episode gave me the impression that Masaki was in charge of overlooking Hisataka on earth. He was, after all, the one that complemented him after killing his father.

I've seen it coming all of the time... And that explains it all. Katou not wishing to destroy JUDA, Moritsugu killing Ishigami, Katou's "un-evil" attitude...

If you are angry with this plot twist, you are literary n00bs. LOL.

And BTW, Gurren Lagann's plot did was LAME. Just a bigger enemy than the previous all time.

Yes, the plot twist was unexpected and very anti-climatic as we do not get to see a real final showdown between the hero Hayase and the villain Katou that has been developing over the entire. Although, looking back it seems like all the pieces fit into place for this ending to be set up. Such as why they let the JUDA Factors go and not kill them or Kouichi's family when they could have easily been obliterated by KATO since they were powerless. The president was killed immediately after mention of the SDF rising suggesting the next phase was to take place. The continued discussion about justice and everyone eventually gaining the same understanding of justice and ideals even though they are on different sides? That does not make much sense why they are fighting then if they have the same ideas about justice, the only justification would be if they were really both fighting for the same thing which was the case all along. Also why Katou himself would show up and chat with them trying to see if Hayase was progressing as he would hope to realize his full potential and therefore be the one capable of defeating the incoming invasion with the true Anti-Machina.

If this just turned into a normal final battle between Hero who has risen to his greatest ability and Villain with bad intentions, first of all, it would be very cliche and boring. Secondly, all of the actions above and many other parts of the story before would not have made much sense at all. In fact, it would feel contrived and not a real ending with the typical villain not taking full advantage when his enemy is down bs that goes on in nearly every series, movie, and other stories. Seriously why does the villain always be so intelligent yet can not put an end to the hero when he is weakest or before he gains training in every type of story!? This particular plot twist felt more real for me because he put in a plan that was not to kill JUDA when Katou clearly would have been able to at his army's strength, but something more that was supported and made sense by his former actions rather than a typical "kill the hero and conquer the world" scheme. His actions would have clearly been different in the previous episodes of the anime if that was his true intention. If they made the story such that it actually was his true intention in combination with his previous actions, the series would have suffered from major logic plot holes which is a serious problem for a lot of stories with a classic villain vs hero building up to a final showdown against one another.

Not saying I particularly liked the way the anime as a whole turned out but it makes sense and was very consistent in plot logic throughout which is commendable, this does not always happen in every anime.

the move of enclosing him and shooting was pretty cool. So is moritsugu good now? I mean he shot the CEO kinda hard to forgive that. This twist makes no sense to everything that happened shouldint have. He could of just asked for help. What was the point of the ceo going against them and dieing. What was the point of the deaths. What drugs were they on when they wrote this. Also seems like red hair big boobs has a thing for young boys. Oh risako your fighting a losing battle.

Hahaha "wut a turn of events" as Kouichi would say.
Huge infodump on invading otherworld & plottwists. Man & machinas merged & expand to other dimensions. Juda & Katou cooperate now.
Reiji reveals true intention & why he killed ceo, for the Flag. He's been cold & consistent, loyal to Katou, always for the mission. Yamashita noticing Reiji avoids fatal blows every chance, and Reiji even explained the number of critical hit chances he had in earlier episode.

With the Katou reveal, everything he said before makes more sense now. Katou's world peace with sacrifice vs Dr & ceo's idealistic version of no death. Death as the best catalyst for "imagination"/growth (shown as all the fights esp Reiji "training" Kouichi to the death, and CEO death). Pretty crazy how Reiji's the dark sidekick moving things along. How CEO fights poison with poison by merging himself with machina Flag, just like the enemy world that lacks individuality. This theme was foreshadowed previously with Kiriyama + Taserman v2, twin sensing multiple inhuman consciousnesses, basically hive mind.
Katou's still crazy tho. And Cowboy (with his own agenda) doesn't even follow his orders.
