| The romance is with jousting not people. "You joust for yourself not for someone else but while jousting you meet new people ,friends, rivals, you could call it fate or a miracle and that miracle will continue on , it will spread out into the world and into the future". They love jousting but family issues , injuries, jealousy, self doubt are disturbing they're love for it. Jousting knocked the MC down and he doubted himself and jousting but his friends (who he met through jousting) are there to support him and he sees how great jousting is through them, he comes back up and decides to love again embracing everything about it. This is a deconstruction of the anime romance genre but you have to see past the superficial things, there is more to it than you think. "Jousting is a battle where you put your heart and pride on the line, you could say it's exactly like life itself". This is about the love and passion for the game and everything that comes with it, good and bad, it may not mean anything to you but it does for them, they dedicate their life to it. |

| But the anime wasn't even about jousting most of the time, it was mainly about unbelievably forced fan service. If it was drama about jousting, they would show various serious problems of some or of all main characters and how they over came it plus they would show jousting more technically. So far Ive seen only hints of either. And it got the romance tag .... ok thats defined genre, you cant go around twisting meaning of it. (Romance - a genre of which the central plot focuses on the romantic relationships of the protagonists= it means love between ppl, humanoids, aliens, creatures, whatever.. but not hobbies im sorry ) If we talk about person loving their hobby it is simply drama or comedy, etc about sport but no romance. |
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list ) |
| It's a harem, it's never going to have enough romance, just some little hints here and there. I would say they were wrong when they gave it that genre. |
