It's a pretty common theme throughout fiction and religion, tying fate and death to everyday objects. |

For a manga like deathnote which is greatly appraised for its plot ... reading this came as a bit of a shock to me thats all .. i mean it atleast bought my opinion from masterpiece to great ... dosnt anyone else think so too ? |

Nah, I mean, there really aren't any stories with a single original premise that can be made. The real work is how the author ties these elements up, how the elements interact with each other. When you deconstruct Death Note, what you really have is: death notebook, detective/elusive criminal, organization of spiritual beings, and falls from grace. All of these things on their own have been done to death, but in Death Note, they come together nicely. |

The origin of Death Note? The only difference between The Miraculous Notebook and Death Note is that in Shigeru Mizuki's story there are no Shinigamis (Death Gods in Death Note), and the origin of the notebook was never explained. http://comipress.com/article/2007/01/08/1287 |
