"Kise Ryouta, he's got a bottomless talent in basketball."
When it comes to the GoM's strength Kise has always wavered in the ranks. On one hand he's a player that can copy any move he's seen and then unleash it with far more power than the original. He's got an overly keen sense of perception, comprehension and applying moves he's gathered into the right sort of situations. Now that he's overcome his own limitations he's able to deftly copy the moves of the other miracles which makes him even more powerful and you could say finally in the running with the others. Let's be honest, until the match agaisn't Aomine Kise could hardly even kiss their shoes.
On the other hand he's got some blatantly obvious drawbacks. For one, and Imayoshi pointed this out during the Touho/Kaijo match, he doesn't truely have a move of his own. One could argue that his act of perfect copy could sort of be an ultimate move in itself, but no matter how great his copies are it's been said that they aren't as good as the originals. Could they become as good or even better in the near future? Only time will tell. Kise had to watch Aomine's way of play countless times and prepare himself mentally before he was able to copy his moves, so I think more pratice could solve this problem.
Another problem with Kise is his lack of experience. People have pointed out that characters like Aomine and Haizaki, who stopped praticing long ago and are just getting back into the rhythm, could have probably won their respective matches if only they'd praticed, but the same could go for Kise. He started basketball a whole lot later than the others. I feel like Kise could be one of the strongest characters if just given a couple of years, or seeing at how fast Kise learns maybe a couple of truely rigorous months of training.
Now with all that background out of the way let's get to the question: My thoughts of Kise's skill level? In a 1-on-1 I definitely think that base Kise (without his injury) and base Kagami could be evenly matched. I also believe that Kise could win. Kagami's strong, but he's still naive and heavely reliant on Kuroko. It's just like in that mini match of Kagami and Aomine where they were battling over the basketball shoes. In my opinion, Kagami is strong as a whole, but falls in 1-on-1 matches unless in the zone.
Perfect copy Kise vs. zone Kagami or any character that can enter the zone for that matter would be hard to determine. It would depend on whether Kise can use it for more than 5 minutes. Though the zone also has a time limit I think he wouldn't be able to go full out and win without more time. I'd also like to point out however that in perfect copy mode Kise can join moves together for ultimate force. I think that if there was some way to use all the GoM's moves at once he might be able to pull it off, and, you know, probably be even more injuried than he is now, lol.
Other matches
Midorima vs Kise = Kise because unless Midorima gets some really big powerup his skill is sort of starting to flat lining.
Aomine vs. Kise = I still think he'd lose, just because Aomine has got his love of basketball back and can enter the zone willing.
Haizaki vs Kise = Despite the fact that Haizaki, well, "doesn't give a damn about basketball", would much rather chase after girls and goof off and hardly ever pratices I doubt he could beat Kise even if he did pratice. Base Kise could beat Haizaki in my opinion because Haizaki still can't copy the other miracles moves. Kise can do this without going into Perfect copy.
Mursakibara vs. Kise = I don't really have anything to add on this one. I think they'd be evenly matched - Defense vs. Offense.
Akashi vs. Kise = I'm going to say Akashi because i'm certain he's got something huge tucked under his sleeve.
Kuroko vs. Kise = Kise.....for obvious reasons.
Edit: Oh, I forgot about the matter of Kise entering the zone. In all honesty I don't think he can. From the begining I've believed that perfect copy IS the zone for Kise. It certaintly puts him on the same level as them, even though maybe for a shorter amount of time. Though I've also got this other theory that maybe Kise will one day be able to enter the zone, and in turn his perfect copy time will increase. Like the zone and perfect copy could mesh in a sort of way, but that's pure speculation. |
