Since there is no such thing as a "perfect anime" (as far as I know) and you can find faults in everything, is there something you DIDN'T like about "Monster"?

For me - personally - it was the fact that not everything was explained. Because there is also a novel "Another Monster" which gives us a lot of additional information - however they weren't included in the anime. I wasn't entirely on board with the ending - cause nothing was resolved (both Johan and his desciple were still alive). Some characters in the series change too late (Eva for example) and for me it wasn't believable enough. Johan wanted to perform a "perfect suicide" by erasing any traces of his existence - however, he still let many people who knew about him live (Eva, dr Gillen, Karl, dr Reichwein, Schuwald...). The timing of certain events was too perfect - though in most cases you can explain it by saying: "Johan planned it". I would also like the relationship between Tenma and Nina to be more developed - but it's just me. Also, I found it strange that: a.) Tenma was able to travel around Germany so easily despite being chased by the police; b.) Johan was unable to find his mother - or didn't look for her - even though he did want to know couple of things about his past (the last scene).

Despite that, this anime - in my opinion - is as close to masterpiece as you can get.

Great anime doesn't need to be resolved in black and white terms. That's what makes it great in the first place. Monster in my opinion had an appropriate ending. Just as the title of the final episode suggested, we learned who the real monster was.

As for me, I personally didn't like some of Nina's psychotic breakdowns during the anime. It felt like she was trying too hard to convey terror into others. Especially the scenes between Nina and Dr. Gillan; and Nina and Dieter

It is maybe weird but i was looking forward for kenzo (or whatever i should call him, just the protagonist) becoming a monster himself. But it just wouldn't come. So before I knew it there was the end. And he still hasn't done anything wrong in my eye's. To be honest if I look at the story afterwards it was great. Almost everything about it was it (great). I was just frustrated that it didn’t came once before or in the end. Therefore I didn't liked the end first. But now after thinking about it I think it is great and feel really sorry for myself that I didn't realized it back then

It is hard finding a flaw in this series but what I didn't like much was the slow start it had. It really took a couple of episodes to settle down and start getting TOO interesting. To be exact, it stopped being too slow-paced after episode 14 or so and that's when I took it up for real and finished 60 episodes in almost 1.5 weeks. Other than that, I was annoyed by Eva Heinemann early on where she would just cry and annoy people, then cry again and annoy people again and then get angry because Tenma left her and cry cry cry. She did give a better suspense to the series though and her being annoying to me means that her character was so well-written, it actually made me "upset".
