| This anime has had its moments of pettiness and maliciousness, but this episode was unreasonably nasty for whatever the reason. More so since the type of nastiness here involved quite a bit of standing around and suffering, all the while smug, seethingly evil people gloat and taunt with no filter. I mean, everything was solved by the end, but until that point, I dunno. These moments placed along side comedic asides feel sort of insincere. I suppose this is all to build some sense of comradery, having everyone undergo trauma and suffering before laughing everything off together by the end. I think it would have been better to stick with one consistent tone for at least the whole episode, rather than swinging back and forth between comedic pratfalls and suicides. Lemon Angel Project is really struggling to emphasize hard work and friendship, though the show really needed to focus more on group interactions if that were the case. I think it's dwelling a bit too much on individual issues. This would work in a longer series, but I'm not sure it's working out here. |
