The executive committee of Comiket 83 has announced on the official website that they will prohibit all the Kuroko no Basket-related circles from participating in Comiket 83 due to the threatening letter sent to the committee. The representatives of the committee said this was a regrettable decision but the police strongly requested not to allow KuroBas circles to attend the event. Distribution of KuroBas-related goods and dojinshi by other circles was also prohibited.

As a consequence of the series of threatening letter cases, many official and dojin events have been canceled including KuroBas live event at Jump Festa.

Some people take their anime a little too seriously. I mean death threats over a basketball show - how retarded is that?

Well, at least they didn't threaten the Touhou doujinshi. I'd have to put together a counter-terrorist unit if something like that happened.

I hope they will go through with it after everything is done with.

The fujoshi are going to murder this guy if the police don't get to him first. I just get that feeling.

Fujimaki already said he will continue regardless so the manga won't get canceled or put on hiatus, but the anime might be affected for a while until the guy is caught. I just hope Production I.G don't let this cash cow slip away after the person gets canned.

Bullshit. Why not just fucking ignore the fucking threat letters? ITS NOT LIKE SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. You are just making the retarded sender happy with that action. The sender can't do shit except send threat letters so why not just ignore the threat letters? Fuck.

So... It's 2012 and a single guy can basically threaten a 120-million country with some letters?

I wonder if it's a big deal for the japanese general public/media?

For god´s sake, this is the most stupid decision I ever saw. Instead of showing they´re not afraid, they´re giving power to the arsole who sent the letters who is now celebrating happily while other people who spent the whole year drawing and writing KuroBas doujin to sell, and others who spent the whole year waiting to buy it have now to return home with empty hands.

Oh darn this stupid world.

The reason they are "giving in" is because the guy has previously sent actual harmful materials to places and people. Because of that, he's being considered a legitimate terrorist and real threat - he may only have had tiny amounts but you never know and it's not worth risking in such a hard to watch over facility with so many people...and that really applies to the other events as well.

If it was just notes threatening things they wouldn't cave - but the guy has shown he's serious enough that they can't risk it.

It's not about them being pussies or whatever - it's about them realizing "that guy sent shit that can kill people to a school, so I'm pretty sure he'd do the same to a bunch of otaku and fujoshi too."

If you actually read anything about this stuff you'd know why. The person has a personal grudge against the mangaka from when they went to school together.

I can't believe the police just gave in to terrorism. Now what's gonna stop others from imitating this criminal since the police, indirectly just said this sort of terrorism is effective.

Honestly a very dumb move on the police's end. One should never give in to terrorism no matter how big or small.

all the same, how long is this gonna go on then? Just cancelling every other event is not gonna make the terrorist back down. It'll only encourage him to attack bigger events.
So while they're protecting the fujoshi and otaku(which, I admit, is the most important thing), they're only giving the culprit more confidence. Just think: what started as one small event being cancelled has lead to over 20 events begin cancelled.
Protect the fujoshi and otaku, I'm not saying no. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't investigate on this culprit. If they are investigating now, well, its not enough. How long has it taken them to try and catch one guy now? 2 months?
Or is normal that these kinds of psychos take a long time to be put in prison?

Police aren't the American government. Since when did police purposefully put people in danger to make anti-terrorism statements? Never. Not in any country. Especially not when they are in a situation that (for some reason) they can't find the suspect.

Hell, in the US chances are the entirety of Comiket would be shut down because of this. Anime Expo almost entirely got closed down last year because a random box was left in the food court (obviously, it was harmless merch forgotten under a table) because OH GOD IT MIGHT BE A BOOOOMB. All over a random box under a food court desk at a place known for merchandise and idiots and NOT for exploding things.

They are trying to find him, of course. But things like this take time and apparently when it's the Japanese police it takes a LOT of time. I can't believe with all his notes and even sneaking in material to places he hasn't been caught. He's either very smart or the police are very stupid.

Though yes, the guy is likely feeling great and powerful - but that's when criminals get dumb, so it'll end soon enough. He'll get full of himself and start taking bigger risks that aren't necessary because he'll think he's bulletproof. It's not something the police are letting happen on purpose - but at least at some point he'll get caught and this will stop.

It's a shit situation but there's only so much a police department can do in a situation like this aside take security measures and slowly investigate.

I think they just meant the threats in general keeping the studio from making another season - not this specific threat. Sadly, it's a possibility - there's no way they weren't planning on continuing the show, and it did great, but with something like this they studio or producer might back out. At least until he's caught...but then they might not want to spend the money on continuing it.
