| I'll join the echo chamber with the sentiments that this was the best chapter thus far, and it's not even really close. On a silly note, I quite like the gag with Tiamat not being able to look at Tico with Astro keep telling him she's over there. But more seriously, this chapter established a lot and is the first one setting up an actual story arc that will have more going on than a singular conflict. Tiamat's anger at the military forces sending false reports, Tico's backstory and motivation, hints at Astro's real story, all three of the characters have some sort of tangible stakes going on, and the chapters end introduced several baddies that will need to be taken care of before this arc can close out. The continued theme of family as something we choose rather than being reliant on blood ties continues to strengthen here. The family speak from Astro can get a tad redundant, but I do like how that's incorporated both with Astro's orphan family, him posing as the prince itself, and no Tico's backstory. Also, it will never come to fruition, but the note that Tico escaped from a conflict in another country was definitely intended to come back into the story down the line. Shame this comes up as there's only half the series left, hope this arc at least gets wrapped up. |
