According to the official website, Shinkai Makoto has produced a TV ad for Japanese construction company Taisei Corp. It's about a woman who works for the Marmaray project. Actress Kurokawa Mei plays the woman.

Bosphorus strait undersea tunnel project

Shinkai produced another TV ad for the same company in 2008. It was about the construction of New Doha International Airport.

i was more inclined to think he was making an anime rather than supporting a tunnel project no one likes half a world away... but money is money i guess

I agree haha even though I'm a huge fan, but damn his animations are just way too stunning, never ceases to take my breath away.
