I figured we'd compile a bibliography of books that fans of this show would dig. Many fans of the anime I'm sure will be young (-ish) and might not have read much of the genre tropes Kaiba dwells on, and some will have read tons and have lots to recommend!

I'll start with: Richard Morgan.

Altered Carbon
Broken Angels

These two books are set in the same setting where our memories are stored in chips in our spinal columns, so its the same set up as Kaiba, but much more adult in nature. The writing is nice and hard-boiled, the concepts and scenarios are deliciously imaginative and truly show how the entire concept of storing your personality in a chip can both be heavenly and hellish experience. Two random examples: sex in virtual reality that makes you feel like you're spending days with the person when its actually only hours, and being tortured to 'death' over and over in multiple bodies. Lovely.
"I'm starting to think mal is run by Xinil generating electricity on a bicycle." - idklol
