I'm curious about there being a third anime season of S&W since there is plenty of material to work with and soon the animators will know exactly what happens once the last novel is out. Then they can do another multi novel anime season. Of course, I'm not sure if they are paying attention to S&W anymore, not sure how S&WII and the translated books are selling. Anyone have stats on S&W sales or popularity rankings so we can guess if we have a shot at S&WIII?

My hopes were high but sadly I saw this written somewhere (could be wrong, but since they claimed to have read the light novels...) "The ending to the second season was not in the original script, it was added." This is usually done when there isn't a plan to continue a series, but they want to leave the season with some kind of end. There have been cases where an anime with an original ending is continued, or redone, but not very many. As far as popularity, we had a foreign exchange student from japan who claimed it did quite well there. The manga adaptation gets good reception too. "ASCII Media Works reported that as of November 2009, over 3.5 million copies of the first twelve novels have been sold.[1] The light novel series has ranked three times in Takarajimasha's light novel guide book Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! published yearly: first in 2007, and fifth in both 2008 and 2009; in the 2007 issue, Holo won Best Female Character." (Wikipedia) I think that when the manga gets far enough ahead, it might pique the production companies interest to continue the series. Here to hoping.

Yes, unfortunately as you suspect, the second half of spice and wolf II does not follow the fourth book. Which actually isn't a bad thing, but its not great in regards to a third season occurring. I've never actually read the fourth book, but I got my hands on the baka-tsuki translations of volumes 3 and 4 and assuming they are correct, the third volume does deal with the amarti trying to steal holo and fools gold. The fourth though, takes them on a journey elsewhere and they don't end up in that town in the anime. Now if this is accurate, its only good in the sense that you can satisfy your fix for spice and wolf with one extra books worth of material.

As for the anime overall, i sure hope they do make a season 3, after doing some research it doesn't sound like its impossible, But who knows when they might; if ever give the green light. I guess we just have to hope something falls our way.

The ending they made for the anime wasn't even that good, there is no way they could leave it like that. I kinda just figured they pulled the second half of that season out of a different book and stuck it in there, but i have no way to verify this because i can't read japanese or w/e, i just know what they used does not sync up with the 4th light novel of spice and wolf according to baka tsuki.

All that being said, if you would like a copy of the 4th books unofficial translation, send me a message

To be honest (as someone who has read the novels) i think the ending in the fourth book (better yet how the book went period) was fine and they should have gone with it, The hole church thing was stupid! (Im only saying this because i want a third season). But ya!

oh ok, thanks x3.

bur the thing that sucks is, from what I'm hearing. It looks like
there will be more chances that there "won't" be a 3rd season,
since its not following the novels so well anymore...

Of course the second half of the second season doesn't follow the fourth volume, you dimwits. Because it follows the fifth! The first season covers volumes one and two and the second three and five. For some reason they skipped the fourth. Which is something you would know if you cared enough to read the novels. Yes, they are translated up to the sixth, you just have to be stubborn enough to find them on the net.

The 4th book in the novel is something like an omake, the part after Amarty is in the 5th book. Which means season 2 end in the 5th vol of the novel, the 4th vol was excluded ^^

Regardless of whether or not this person is correct, I don't see why the animators wouldn't make a third season. It's not like they concluded the anime in S&W II, so there's a decent chance for another season.

Anyway, if you're being accurate, werrston, I'm glad. I bought the first four volumes of the LNs recently, and I was kind of depressed because each volume seems to be one arc. So I thought I wouldn't be reading a new arc. But, I digress.

Need....more...S&W. The petition is over 5k, but I seriously doubt it could have an effect on whether there will be a 3rd season or not. I just bought the manga vol. 4-6 because I MUST see how this ends and the manga is the only sure way to finish the whole adventure.

Why not read the novels? It is more detailed than the manga. Also the character development is far superior, especially for Lawrence.
