And now I'm replying 3 months later. I'm not doing that well either. I'm currently in Auckland, New Zealand and am enrolled in a graduate program, but it's not going well for several reasons, one of which is that I probably chose the wrong program. I'm thinking I'll make it through the rest of the year here, then need some sort of change. But I've been putting off thinking about what change that will be.

Anyway, I'm back on this site looking to see if the new yuri/shoujo-ai animes are out yet after not watching any anime for ages. Netsuzou TRap has started airing so I might watch it.

Once you get back on the website let me know how you're doing. I now understand the pains of higher education not going well. It seems like most of what I'm accomplishing is wasting time and money.

Haha, I think it speaks volumes that I'm just answering this in November, I'm really sorry ='D This actually means that I too barely visit this site anymore. =( But it's really nice that you wrote!!! I just saw that I have a new comment (well, kinda new, from February...) and it made me really happy, for real. People always were so nice here, even when I wasn't... so nice. So it's nice to see that somehing hasn't changed.

I finished school and now I'm a hardworking, busy bee.

What about you?

Sorry about me not replying earlier either. My anime watching goes through phases, and I'm in an off phase right now.

Public health is a pretty broad field, hence the appeal to me - I can further put off making definite decisions about my future. It includes education, research, health policy (politics - not interested), biostatistics, epidemiology, and further jargon. That might not have answered your question, but in my head it all just means that I can combine math and science to solve real-world problems about health and disease.

I've never heard of Peaky Blinders. I'll look into. I've been watching Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Orange is the New Black, and American Horror Story. Have you seen any of them? And some movies I've missed while living abroad.

One of my students keeps asking me for anime recommendations. He's about 17, and has really liked everything I've suggested to him. I'm proud of myself because I got him to watch Cowboy Bebop.

Still in school? How goes it?

I just got back from a trip to the Amazon, and can now say I've been to Peru and Brazil (though only for a couple of hours each). It was a good time. As for grad school, I'm planning on looking into public health. But honestly, the most important thing for me is to go back to university. If plans change after that, then no big deal. I just need the academic environment to move forward with my life and stop country hopping.

Are you keeping in touch with your friends over break? I know from experience that that can be difficult, but probably worth it in the long run.

Most recently I've been catching up on my English TV and no anime. I'll probably start something up soon though, since I have a lot of free time until school starts back up. And I just finished the last few episodes of DBZ that I never finished as a child. My students are watching the newest season, Super, and I felt like I needed to finish DBZ so I can talk to them about it properly. A surprisingly large number of them watch anime, though mostly the very mainstream, not that good shounen stuff.

I'm still in Colombia, and getting ready for summer vacation. Tomorrow is my last day, then I have 3 weeks off. I'll do some traveling, apply to grad school, and move houses here in the city. So life is pretty good.

How are you? The school year is over, right? Also, seen any good anime lately?
CrimsonGlaive Mar 26, 2016 5:44 PM
Hey Plu! I hope you're doing okay.

And you're right, the layout here is so fugly. Oh well, it's still better than some of those other sites.
maia061 Feb 29, 2016 11:13 AM
Do you have any friends that can support you along with your brother? I want to be supportive, but real life people are probably more helpful. The internet connects people in strange ways...And I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Its hard to know what to say to that. I wish people were different.

And your direct translation from Spanish is correct. That's one reason why kids struggle with that question. They still don't know that you can't directly translate between languages. Sometimes one of my co-teachers forgets that too...

Thanks for sharing, and I completely understand what you mean about labels. That's why I'm still kind of undecided, but it really makes it easier to talk with others about it if you have your labels laid out. Throughout college I identified as gay, and it made my social life that much easier because people felt like I belonged in their group and could relate to them. I no longer (and I'm not sure I ever really did) think that gay is entirely accurate in describing me, but most people find it easy to comprehend. I know I can't really understand what you're going through, but I do know its difficult and very personal. Its hard to deal with other people when you don't even know how to deal with yourself.

After that talking about Colombia seems out of place, but here I go. I'm pretty sure I'm the first foreigner most of them have ever talked to, and they're accustomed to having English teachers that speak worse English than I speak Spanish. And my Spanish isn't that good. So they're been learning English for years but still forget how to ask "How old are you?" And I don't really think its their fault. Though I wish they would do homework and/or study periodically. It also seems like class takes very low priority in school. Punctuality isn't a thing, and class gets put off or canceled all the time so that students can eat, or have a debate, or the teachers are busy talking to each other in the hall, or the teacher is sick. Substitutes aren't a think, apparently.

And...that's all for now. Good luck with everything.

Sure do! :P

Works been interesting. I'm teaching at two public schools in a smallish town in two rather dangerous neighborhoods with underprivileged kids. One of the schools has projectors in all the classrooms (that usually work) and the other doesn't. It just has whiteboard. I had to buy markers and an eraser. Its a very different experience to teaching rich kids at a private school in China. And these kids never do homework and are only at school from 6:30am to 1pm. I'm obviously still adjusting, but having fun. If you're interested in hearing more let me know, but I don't want to overwhelm you with details.

If you were to come out, what would you come out as? I apologize if we're had this conversation before, but I don't remember. Over these past few years I've been struggling with finding the correct labels for myself, and whether I want to share them with other people. Its all pretty complicated and person, isn't it? And for me, with living in foreign cultures and not knowing how people will react, its much easier to just not talk about it.
maia061 Jan 31, 2016 7:36 AM
Pretty good. I have a new teaching job in Colombia, and I officially start at the school tomorrow. What have you been up to?
CrimsonGlaive Dec 31, 2015 4:59 PM
Happy New Year Plu! :D
CrimsonGlaive Nov 2, 2015 2:58 PM
It's absolutely horrendous! It's making me want to run away! What the heck are they doing? The whole reason to stick with MAL instead of other alternatives was because of the nice, simple layout that was easy on the eyes and for people who don't have short attention spans.

Also no problem about the late reply. I'm late replying to everyone these days. I think I'm turning into a cat.

Eww, auto leveling stats? Sigh. Well, if it's ever on sale I might get it.

Haha, well I'm sure it will be better than unwatchable normal TV at any rate!
CrimsonGlaive Aug 25, 2015 3:59 PM
Soldering is just gluing or un-gluing something. Except it's not glue, and you need to melt it with a hot tool. Well, I'm sure it's more complicated than that and needs more precision for most things. But heck, it was enough for mine.

Aw no. That sounds sucky. I am even less motivated to play it now. And I heard Varric doesn't like the player's inquisitor? Varric was my main reason for even trying it out.

The most recent ones were 16th century and 19th century.

How is Sailor Moon Crystal? I never actually got into any of the Sailor Moons, despite seeing the odd episode here and there.
