THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

This show is not GREAT, but it's not bad. Entertaining. Light. Relaxing.

There are shows that have done this better (Sailor Moon. Kamakaze Kaitou Jeanne..etc), but this is fun to watch once in a while between shows currently airing.

I have a feeling that Honoka's Grandma knows what's going on... in terms of the mahou shoujo-ness.

Fuji-P is cute. Nagisa kinda threw an unnecessary bitch fit... Glad everything worked out..

Tree-Uga was..... interesting... o_0

Geh,I was hoping that the quarrel was going to be a little more dramatic and stuff... it started that way and ended very lamely.

I agree w/ MushashiRose. This is a well-made show that, once in a while, hits the spot. It's good light entertainment that isn't really anything new or spectacular, but still is quite fun to watch. This episode in particular I feel was well-executed, it reminds me of a fight I had back in elementary where, just like Nagisa, I said something mean and then found it hard to apologize afterwards. It's kind of like, the worse of a jerk you were, the harder it is to admit it. I'm glad the quarrel wasn't too dramatic; this way it felt more realistic.

I feel like the art in this episode was a step up from what it has been. They used a lot of what seems like twilight colors and shadows to make the art really reflect the feelings of this episode. So while the fight episode was inevitable, and an alright one, the best part of this episode to me was the art.

A pleasant and to-the-point conflict/bonding episode balanced out with some relatively dynamic visuals.

It seems like Igarashi Takuya was the episode director, which might account for the interesting details and lighting.

I liked this one. It was a sweet little episode, not too dramatic, but not boring either.

This show is pretty good so far for the kind of show it is. Nothing spectacular, but its quite entertaining. Pisard was the best part, though^^

The reason i started this was because people told me that there is a Power Rangers like evolution in the Pre Cure series. From simple, lighthearted , and pretty standard childrens entertainment that is great for kids, and alright/good for adults, to shows that are great for both.

If thats true, then i cant wait for the later series. This one is a pretty good start though^^

This was probably the most interesting episode so far, at least by how it was made. I didn't really pay much attention until I started seeing interesting cuts and editing with the stop lights. This was probably due to the slightly serious tone of the episode, but there was also a higher variety of colors and deeper shadows used during various scenes. This was obvious during the more dramatic moments like when Nagisa was telling Honoka off, but then there was also the fight with Gekidrago where the animation was a lot faster for a split second. I also find it interesting that unlike previous episodes, this one had the pair go straight for the kill shot without any hesitation.

There were a lot of interesting camera angles and methods of framing a number of shots too, such as when the two were walking with Fujimura, where you could actually pick out how it cuts from underneath a car to an alleyway for narrow shots, then to behind their backs to close in while maintaining the mystery of how Nagisa was feeling. This then flipped to the front where we can finally see Nagisa's face, to which it suddenly zooms into her face to show her being flustered upon a slight glance at Honoka and Fujimura talking. It just keeps going on like that for the whole episode, and it's interesting to pick out.

It's probably easier to notice since the previous episode have been quite cut and dry, but it's also because this anime has a lot of cut corners, such as when Nagisa is slouching her head, you can see that it's just the drawing of her hair being moved down underneath another layer. With other anime, especially recent ones, it's a lot harder to spot with the amount of stuff that go on, especially with CG and 3D motion. It's the little things like this that makes me appreciate how anime's made, as well as help me understand which episodes and scenes the creators felt were the most important to devote time and resources to.

Edit: Igarashi Takuya. Darker Than Black, Ouran and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Ohhhh.

Igarashi killed it that episode! The lighting was simply immaculate. Love the use of shadow and reds in the more somber scenes.

That fight at the end where they were arguing in front of the enemy was also really funny.

Oh wow, I really thought this episode was directed by Shinbo as I was watching it. This one was really great, absolutely loved it! Igarashi knocked it out of the park with the directing ^_^
