The story had potential. Instead the author turned it into a pity fest. Just like every other shojou out there, except this time it was cancer rather than a car accident.

I don't get the raving reviews and high score for this. It's a really typical cliche shoujo in both content and artwork. It all felt too rushed for me to give a damn about her death.

It portrayed life so beautifully, it sent a positive message of how one should not give up on their life, and live beautifully until the end. Quote from Gintoki,

Rushed? Definitely, but a beautiful story nonetheless that put across every important thing that needed to be put across. It wasn't perfect at all - so much more could have happened - but in the end, I cried very hard. I can acknowledge that more character development was needed, and that more volumes would have been nice, but yet this story was so beautiful and touching.
moving on.

It was good, but I believe that they should have shown her last, dying moments so it'd seem more realistic. Overall, it was a short, tragic read and was beautifully portrayed no matter how short it was.

She's still kinda harsh with her dad but he did reveal of slapping her in the last chapter for the reason of making her avoid the sun.

... Fucked up that her dad said to take it off the run around in the sun like that little kid he was looking at... I can't imagine a man like him thinking something so dumb. I get his intent but...

And then she passes away.
Short and somewhat beautiful but... I'm not sure if logical building of foundation to the character's senses of motivation would help; in how oddly and to me unrealistically mature she and the boy is for their age but even so... it's too unrealistic which makes it flawed to me. So, I guess... it arguably deserves a 5 but I'll give it a 4/10. It's ok.

Funny, I forgot and thought this was the original source only to later realize that this is based off the japanese film.
I might skim through it or at least search her song to hear if it's good, along with the american version.
