| (Disclaimer: This is NOT one of those "oh the manga was so much better, the anime's all wrongggg" threads.) So I've noticed some other people in the episode threads who've already read the manga. What do you guys think of the adaptation so far? Overall, I think the anime's been solid, but somewhat less subtle than the manga in terms of direction, comic timing, etc. Episode 4's a good example too -- the bit at the end with the hypnotised kid seems more dramatic in the anime. And I was disappointed that they tacked on a needless and unsubtle "Maybe we're not that different" line in the anime. On the other hand, maybe the lack of subtlety makes it more appealing to most people? The Prince also seems more over-the-top and cartoony in the anime; the end of episode 4, for instance. It's probably a seiyuu thing as well. Any thoughts? |
