Nico nico seiga has launched an international English translation project of manga Say Hello to Black Jack. The idea of the volunteer-based translation project was originall proposed by the author Sato Shuho, who has been seeking a novel business model of manga independent of publishers. Nico nico seiga, one of the services of Nico Nico Douga, offered a platform for international collaboration.

Say Hello to Black Jack translation project (English)

Users first log in to Nico Nico Douga and submit their translations panel by panel. Sato said he welcomes participation of scanlators.

Initially misread the title as "Say Hello to Jack Black." I'd learn Japanese just to translate a manga about Jack Black.

Legalized scanlations? Hell yeah.

But seriously, this is really good. I'm tired of reading the rotten translations in my country where the manga is translated to Chinese (and for some manga, English) by some Taiwanese company. You know that can't end well. Plus the manga are heavily censored (To LOVE ru had offensive pages cut out. That didn't end well too) and behind time (Bleach is on volume 15 here).

Well, enough ranting from me. This is a form of recognition that some scanlations are of better quality than anything the publishers can come up with and is a step in the right direction IMO. This project is probably the best thing since I did an undergrad project on manga and Japanese culture and has my support

Hmmm interesting. At first I assumed that this was for the "Black Jack" anime, but now I see they are two different things.

Well "Black Jack" was a reference to "the" Black Jack you were talking about.

But if you like Team Medical Dragon, you'll like this one too. Although this one is much much more realistic than TMD.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Great. This is one of the best drama manga ever made and only available in Japanese, Dutch and French. It's about time English speaking readers get to grit their teeth into this piece of art.

Yeah, true and sad. Youtube could do awesome things too, if it worked together :3

Also, this sounds extremely interesting, even if i'm not even slightly interested in that manga.

nice news as really publishers just want more money anyway and they dont give back big money to the manga artists too, so with the help of the internet we might see the slow end of publishers now *hopeful thinking*
