That was a clever utilisation of the power concept of the show. Wolf Girl fights Firm Man not through traditional means but through the publication of fairy tales designed to paint him as the villain. Then to find out she was actually the girl he saved was a clever (if slightly predictable) twist. It really goes to show how the true image of heroes has been corrupted through the process of corporatisation. Though Firm Man became more powerful and beloved, he lost the heart of who he was in the process. Although this was really a Firm Man episode, Nice was still able to make use of the situation to enter the top 10 of heroes. Also, now that Nice has seen two heroes step away from the spotlight it definitely is helping to shift his perspective on heroes and whether he really wants to continue down the path he is heading. Another cliffhanger at the end as expected, following on from last episode's cliffhanger. Pretty crazy to see Moon back so soon. No clue how Nice is going to come out looking favourable after this.

Another great show about how Super Heros are marketed. My Best show of the Season so far. Damn these cliffhangers though! That creep better not hurt Moon.
Oh God the things I could say about Hero #10 here, but I think I'll keep my mouth shut other than never being able to be flexible must REALLY suck!

Another excellent episode. This reminds me of Boyz, if that series wasn't mean-spirited, petty and obsessed with gore. A bit of George RR Martin's "Wild Cards" as well. I'm still surprised that this came from the same author of To Be Heor and To Be Heroine, as neither of those were palatable to me. It's a huge jump in writing!

Insane episode, rather a chill one
I love this show up to now, it's my favorite by a mile (obviously got some bias cause of the 3 year wait) and this episode just consolidated that thought.
We got a glimpse of the life of Firm Man, the Top 10 hero and his backstory with the little Girl. This truly showed how his entire life was built, from zero to hero and how his image was constructed therefore his advantages and disadvantages. I have to say it all made sense by the end, such a compelling story between those two. (This realtionships between nemesis and heroes goes hard)
We also see Lin Ling catching up with the Wolf Girl situation (Firm Man's Nemesis) persuading his wish of becoming a hero but also having doubts about it. Not only because of the OCD thing with him, but also him realizing being a hero is not as real and maybe as cool as he expected.

Besides that, Nice takes the glory and stops what could've been a tragedy in the most epic way with a glorious instrumental of Paragon from Hiroyuki Sawano going at full volume in the background, that gave me chills. What surprised me the most tho was how firm man reacted to Lin Ling's declaration, a rather ignorant answer, or that's what it is a first glance. "I'm not Nice", either he doesn't care, doesn't trust him or what's most probable, he's accustomed to heroes being swapped.
God eye closed the episode in the most hype way you could think, now it's time to start theorizing again and prepare to say goodbye to lin ling's story as Nice, if i have to give my opinion this was the quite literal perfect story to introduce us to the setting, so for nice, man it's been a ride.

Last question to be answered is how God Eye catched Moon, my theory is crazy but hear me out. The fear he can collect is probably massive, if he can become that powerful...God eye could become and all watching god (literally) So with that omni-view he could easily catch Moon slacking anywhere she goes.

What do you think? And did you enjoy the episode?

Even a heartwarming rescue story can be enough to push a person into the super hero spotlight in the world of To Be Hero X. Firm Man's quick ascent into being a hero icon and all the limitations that came with that was very interesting to watch!

Another great episode.

I just want to say, the english translations do not do the names in this show justice at all... 不倒 and 蛊狼 sound so much cooler. To be fair, I don't see how these names could be translated well because Chinese characters convey a lot of information. Names aside, Firm Man and Wolf Girl are both good characters. Wolf Girl finally addressed something I was waiting for: propaganda as a way to mold a hero's public image. It's a very fun concept.

Firm Man is yet another case study of how personalities given by believers change a person's original personality: 【不倒】 literally means "[person who does] not stoop/fall down". In one sense, this means that he will not bend to anything; in another sense, it means that he will no longer stoop to the level of average people. In other words, he's no longer able to act in a humble way, instead only standing tall as the very symbol of a hero. I feel like this was conveyed much better in the original Chinese than the English subs or dubs, where it probably went over a lot of people's heads because his name is now "Firm Man". The scene at the end, where he says he's going to have dinner with some friends, is quite important in that he can finally sit down and be at the same level as other people, both physically and metaphorically.

Following the story of Lin Ling is probably the best introduction we could have gotten to this world; we see how heroes operate, as well as how that's completely foreign from the eye of a normal person. We also get to see a normal person become a hero: since every hero was a normal person at some point, I assume we'll get to learn more about how each of their hero personas conflict with their actual wants. As a newcomer, Lin Ling is probably the hero who is most aware of the hero system's flaws. He's seen how it has caused suffering over and over again.

Finally, that ending with God Eye is probably the best thing that can happen. In my opinion, this is the way to conclude Lin Ling's arc: he will have to face all of the issues he has encountered so far instead of not thinking about them. Super hyped for next episode. And for best girl Lucky Cyan.

On a side note, apparently the power level of the characters – and thus, the plot of future episodes –  was dependent on a vote on Bilibili, fitting the concept of "trust gives power".

This episode was a ranking-focused episode, and they mentioned about some of the heroes that we will be watching in the next episodes. The story of the firefighter hero shows us that anyone can be a hero, but it is nothing more than an advertisement by big companies. It's not really about who's the hero, it's about who's on screen, and I think that's a good criticism of today's social media. It makes sense in the universe that bullying causes bad characters to be born. But in general, where there is a hero, a bad character is created in reaction to hero. The music was good in this episode, I don't think there was a new track. I'm looking forward to seeing how things go. My rating for this episode is 8/10 solid.

Hero number 10, Firm and his backstory.

I kind of predicted the Wolf Girl would be the one he rescued, that was in part responsible for him being a hero. And because he is "Firm" he can't bend down. What?

At the end when he was moving out it seemed like he was actually relieved to NOT be a hero anymore, because OMG that can't sit down to use the toilet was kind of ... yeah.

Oh no Moon has been revealed to be alive. This is going to cause a mess. The show really knows how to keep it interesting. Guessing we'll get to meet heroes #9 to X as the episodes go on, we've only seen hints of the others in the ED.

I was maybe a bit quick on the posting in relation to how long it'd been out, but it was out already, I keep track of the exact time the episode releases each week, I love this show. @PettankoLover he didn't lose faith in himself necessarily, but the people lost trust/faith in him since he bowed down and wasn't the one who could save the day. He needed to let go of the weight he was holding up, but due to what people believed him to be he wasn't able to, which put him in a lose lose while eyes were on him.

This was a really good, almost standalone, episode. Enjoyed Firm Man and Wolf Girl's story, even if they were a little rushed. Wish they hadn't moved back to the Moon-plot so soon and just let this one breathe a little, but still, excellent work so far on this.

Just terrified for Moon now due to Episode 1's ending.

With the combination of being thought up as "perfect" and always being together with Moon in the public consciousness. Nice might have obtained something like Premonition to protect Moon, by seeing the potential/most likely disasters that'll happen to her.

An episode focused on Firm Man, a symbol of the will of the heroes—that's actually a big achievement. But it seems being a hero weighed heavily on him, with everyone wishing for him to stand tall forever.

I’m still confused, but it looks like Nice and X are two different people. Until now, I thought Nice would become X or something—but then why is X the MC and not Nice, when all these episodes follow Nice?!

The animation remains great—it’s nice to see shows like this among all the poorly animated ones each week. Soothes the soul, tbh. By the looks of the ending, Moon has been caught, and I think the lie is about to be exposed to the public. I wonder how Nice will handle this situation.

@XArceusX the show is going to follow all of the heroes in the OP, who are the top 10 (or at least end up there). X is the number 1, and will get included, and is the most important, but he isn't the protagonist the show follows for most of the episodes.

My least favorite of the episodes so far. Felt like Firm Man's backstory and the statue stuff was a bit too corny. But I get it; some exposition to explain how someone can affect a hero's power with fake stories/rumors, and just how much of a double edged sword Trust value can be. Bro couldn't even sit on a toilet or sleep properly. That's just sad. Now even Lin Ling is starting to get OCD like the original Nice. Makes me wonder what's stopping the Trust value from turning him completely into Nice, and how he still retains his old personality. And after the sad farewell from Moon last episode, she instantly gets brought back lol. Hopefully they didn't bring her back just to kill her.

First, I thought this show was just gonna adapt the story concept of My Hero Academia. But HOLY COW THIS IS BEYOND THAT. This is just next level. The concept of the relation between trust and the Hero power is really out of the box. The World Building is really Great too. By watching the third episode I can now finally guarantee myself that this show will not be disappointing until it's end. Can't wait to see the next episode. ABSOLUTE CINEMA

@deg I watched the first one before making the thread, last couple I just made it around when the episode aired since I was a tragically busy at the exact time the episode aired and wanted to make sure it was up for everyone to use right on time (and so I'd be getting notifications for replies once I watched it), I always watch the episode ASAP. Didn't know there was some strict rule on these threads or whatever, ig I'll stop making them like this always, but it's really not such a big deal I don't think. (as long as I'm not busy in future weeks it really won't change much in terms of how soon the thread will be up lol)

@Eragonnogare its a big deal because in the past you got a lot of trolls making many official episode threads without them airing yet it was chaos and i heard on the mobile app they notify users of new episodes out via official episode threads being made so people are confuse if the episodes are really out or not

@deg good thing I'm making the threads when the episodes air then, not before. Making them before the episode is out would obviously be silly, not going to do anything like that. Not sure where you watch this show at, but most here watch the episodes through unconventional means (iykyk). There will be around 30 minutes delay between air time in Japan and release in streaming servives and another 30 minutes on other sites. You may think this is not a big deal, but for a lot of em out there, this is still chaotic.

@V1P3R0P I watch the show officially on Crunchyroll, it's available pretty much exactly when it airs, the same release time in China and in the US. No delay at all from what I've seen iirc, when it's released for China on bilibili it's also released globally on crunchyroll and the likes. Delaying additionally on the post to wait for people to be able to watch on unofficial sources would definitely be silly lol.

It’s wild that anyone would call this anime peak or best of the season. The story has been so bland and the characters have barely any depth. The switching between 2d and 3d art styles is pretty corny, neither really look like they fit and it trashes the quality overall.

“Firm man” is attacked by the girl he saved because he wouldn’t bend over so she could put a scarf on him. Thats a stretch to say the least. She was bullied for drawing him kneeling and crying..

Dropped. I would rather have the season 3 of arcane that will never come.
